If it was a factory option I would get one with a sunroof.

Yep, I have always wanted to get one. I saw a Tacoma in the parking lot at the store the other day with a nice looking sunroof and I waited for the owner to come out so I could talk to him about it. He had just gotten it and loved it. I just wonder why more people don't have them. I've had two aftermarket sunroof/moonroofs in previous vehicles, and never had a problem.

I personally like my vehicle to be as "open" feeling as possible in nicer weather (not a huge fan of air conditioning). The more open windows and roofs, the better IMO!

^^^^ hahaha Benwa, we live in the pacific northwest. I think sun is kinda a requirement to have a sunroof. :D But if we actually had any kind of "summer" around here I would be interested. And I still need to get your slider mod:cheers:

I have a factory sunroof in my 1st gen and love it. my 64 bug also has a sun roof but I cant live with the fact of cutting a good roof for a minor luxury

If a sunroof was a factory option, I would've been all over one. No way am I going to have a hole cut in my roof to add one after the fact!

I bought a convertable as a second car, 1990 Miata, it solves the sunroof issue and the Prius mod issue, while letting me keep my taco. It really is a win-win. And add anothe win for it not being a stupid Prius.

My wife has a sunroof and I hate it, it is factory and looks great and doesn't leak, but I hate the sun in my eyes from above, I hate the noise when it is open, and I prefer to just run the A/C. Would never go out of my way to buy a car with one, have one installed or even use one if I had it...

    True true.....

    But when you do....

SWMBO has one on her Rav4.
In the summer, we'll kick the rear pop-up open and just crack the interior sunshield, so it's not allowing more sun to shine in, but it is providing a path for hot air to flow out.

Dark blue Rav4, it helps keep it a bit cooler when getting back in so the AC doesn't have to work quite as hard.

105 degree air sucks, but it's nicer when you're circulating 105 degree air through the cab than it sitting sealed up in the parking lot and being 150 when you open the door.

My Forester has the big honking factory sunroof. They are nice on certain days but they also allow a lot of heat into the car even when the sliding shade is in place.
I had no choice because the model I got comes with it. Only the base models is it a option. I personally wouldn't get one.
I'm also hoping it dosen't turn into a leaker.

I just got rid of my Forester that had a ginormous one, but I hardly ever used it. I would get one (manual, pop-up, fully removable) in my Taco, but I am OCD about things like that, and one tiny mistake and I would go ballistic- I've always been OCD about symmetry.

I have never seen the purpose in a sunroof. Seems like a waste to me.

    1) Potential leaks can damage the headliner and seats, and if bad enough the carpet. Wind noise sometimes too.

    2) Security breech. One more place for the goblins to break in.

    3) I never saw the value of a sunroof. If you want a convertible buy a Camaro ragtop, or better yet a retractable top BMW M3.

That being said, I do have a convertible car and use it top down maybee 4 times a year. It is our 4th vehicle, not a daily driver.

I have always liked a moonroof open on a warm summer night when driving on a highway. that said, the fact that Toyota doesn't offer one factory has one of two explanations:
    1. It is not economically feasible, i.e. they won't make any money off of it.
    2. The truck is not designed to accomodate a sunroof or moonroof without making some other kind of sacrifice, either structural integrity, safety rating, or weight distribution, etc. If they sold it factory, I'd buy it. But, since I'm into this truck for the long haul, and EVERY aftermarket one I've ever seen leaks after 5-10 years, I will never put one in the Taco.
