Well that’s good food for thought. I just assumed the stock coil overs and leaf springs were fairly forgiving.
On my 2006 I had +200lbs in the front with winch/bumper. Then added the stiff OME spring. That was my normal for 12years.
Then I got this truck a few months ago. It drove like a limo until I swapped out these cab bushings.
But yes I will be upgrading the suspension soon. Just stuck analyzing options.

Dclb here with icons on 650lb coils and ome leafs with the add a leaf. Im oversprung because I wanted the lift/clearance for last year at Moab. I'm on 285s falken wikdpeak at3w. I did all the bushings including the LCA and steering rack. I can assure it definitely magnifies nvh. I knew it going in but to me the trade off was okay. I'm rebuilding the suspension over the next couple months to hopefully offset it. Going sua with Kings all around.

It's almost unbearable at this point if you have a stiff suspension or your tires are fully aired up.

Forgot to update when I moved things around a few weeks ago:

Originally I had small bushing on top w/ washer. I have no heavy bumpers or anything. Fit was good but still squeaked.

Swapped them around, but did not use the metal washer with the big bushing on top. "Squeaky" noise stopped, but I think there is something else causing some creaking up front.

Now, when I went to the big bushing on top, I do have a noticeable gap in my hood spacing towards the front. It doesn't affect the latch but I can tell the difference. If I had the washer as well I'm almost positive my hood wouldn't pop. It's not bad enough for me to worry about...but others have mentioned it so I putting it here for reference.

So, a theory I have is that maybe my IFS skid is causing some noise down there? It only happens when I have the steering and suspension really loaded up (i.e. close to full lock when pulling in and out of a parking spot). The creak noise sounds like just metal on metal right when the suspension unloads and is maybe amplified by the enormous flat piece of steel. Oh and everything on my front end is tight, only 67k on the truck. All the bushings and boots look great. I do have Camburg ball joint uca's though if that could cause noise, or maybe the eibach springs loading/unloading and popping in the 5100's. Who knows...:annoyed:

    Thoughts?

I get all sorts of noises coming from my truck, including the noise you describe. I just chalk it up to off-roading and driving a modded truck. They key is to be able to differentiate between normal noises and bad noises.

Haha, that's what I told my wife. It doesn't really bother me much, especially when I know everything is tight

Hey guys, I created another thread looking for the front rad mount bushings that come with the 8.4109 kit. I already have the 9.4101G kit installed but I want to take some measurements of both kits installed. I have called energy suspension and they wont sell me the parts. Another company, energy suspension parts, will sell them to me via special order with a 2-4 week lead time. I figured someone in this thread might want to sell the 2 front bushings sets from the body mount kit that they didn't use? I would be happy to come back and report all the number I got with everything installed and some pictures for future reference.

I haven't put my IFS on yet but I think you are on to sonething. I put a 3/8" metal skid on my dirt bike and it's noisy. All types of weird sounds reflecting off that thing.

A quick update for anyone who might be on the fence about which kit to install on their rad supports.

I had the universal 9.4101G bushing on my truck for about a week. Fat puck on top. After that week I measured 20.5mm (with washer). I used a micrometer and since it's hard to get a good angle on the gap, I might be off a bit. I then measured the 8.4109G kit bushings, using the exact same technique and got 17.5mm right after finishing the install. The 8.4109 kit sits about 4mm lower than the 9.4101 kit. Hood lined up better and no issues with fan shroud clearance with both kids.

I don't have a good measurement of the stock bushings on the truck since mine were shot. Might go to the dealer and ask to poke a mic up the fender for a minute.

That's pretty much what I came up with also. And chose the 8.4109G for final install. But my front end is currently stock. I understand some people have significant added weight (dual batteries, steel bumper, winch). When I get there I check to see if the installed measurement has changed. In any case, I have the 9.4101G as backup if needed down the road.

Thats the justification I used for the lighter bushings. I figured that even if the stock bushings we're under-supported, the 8 series bushings we're already beefier and sat taller with more cushion. The other reason was my OCD and the hood :annoyed:

Not gonna lie, the hood gap with me using the 9.4101 is bugging me

I intend on doing an SOS streamline w/ winch so I’ll leave it until then

Even with the 8 series there is slight misalignment in the grill/hood mating area. Might have been that way before but never noticed it until I changed the bushings out.

Front of cab, radiator support or where your feet are when your driving?
Did you loosen/remove all cab bolts from one side of the truck.

    Could be the steering shaft.

Nice. Looking through your build now. Saw parts that I didn't think were available.

Interested in those Gear Tech splash guards. One on my passenger side is ripped and I was going to replace it with a factory one. Think I'll just buy the 4-piece set from Gear Tech.
