It's messy, but learn to rebuild the one that is clicking. Chances are it's fine and it just needs grease or one of the spiders on the tulip side is bad and if you start gathering/saving busted CV parts you can fix it that way. That way you have a spare when you need it if it is an OEM one. You don't let OEM cv's go easily.

It’d be easier to say what is not done to it.
Yeah the guy that bought it from Paul ended up selling it to his cousin. I bought it from the cousin. Didn’t even know about this build. I was able to talk him down on the price a bit because of that. I did my research and found this thread before I even bought it. Haha do you know if Paul broke any CV’s after the LT conversion? I wasn’t able to find anything showing that he did or didn’t...

No I don't think he ever did. Barely wheeled it really after the LT haha

Its a cool rig for sure! Hope it's still in good shape.

It's a solid rack that is custom made. It's using some rare Frontrunner feet to mount them. The feet are separate and attached to the solid rack. No drilling.

I know Paul broke at least one CV. He said he left the chunks of it in the toolbox when he sold it . I don’t know what axles he used.

Wasnt that before long travel though??

I don't think the standard mounts are what does it though. It's designed for the 1st gen dcb.

Either way, roof rack on an extended cab isn't worth it anyways. I wouldn't bother.

Maybe it was. That was quite a few beers ago. He was pretty careful on the trail.

Awesome, glad to see someone used this truck what is meant for!

Did you leave the front spring rate the same as Paul had it ?

I know they were originally super stiff

I have not touched the front spring rate. I doubt the guy before me did as well. But it doesn’t seem stiff at all to me..

Paul changed them from his first set to another set. Should be good.

Hey bud, I called and had them modify the inner joint on their 9550TR’s, which already have a modified outter joint. Doing the extra modification was 65$ / side. All together without returning the cores- $851. After the core returns(both axles) $681

9292EC10-7751-4E0C-8904-7C2C78387FB8.jpg First axle went in last night. They are beefy-er than the previous ones, so I’m running into some clearance problem between the axle and the spring on the passenger side with I’m locked all the way to the right. A [toyota truck mechanic] friend of mine suggested to take a shim/ spacer out of the bottom ℅ mount and put in on the other side. To space it further from the axle. What do y’all think?

Yes, a lot of coilovers have different size spacers in order to move them away from the CV axle when installed.
