26D49DBC-842B-47D4-AE1A-DAAD1566E54F.jpg Alright guys, finally had the time to work on the truck and get this damn CV out that broke for no reason. This is what the cup looks like. The cage pictured below is broke as you can tell. To me it looks like the cup has some bends around the rim... I don’t really know how they look new though. If that is the case, apparently I’m not getting enough clearance... but why would that only be the case when I’m in 4wd? I drove it around with no problem in 2H for a week... when I originally bought the truck I remember the tires were wearing very bad due to all the positive camber(the tires were Balding on the outboard side, and had plenty of tread on the inboard side. I got a professional alignment When I put the new tires on. I’m thinking that in that process, it increased the angle of the CV’s. So for me to fix this issue if my thinking is correct, I need to lower the front. Driver side is all the way at the top of the Coil over, passenger side has 1 inch of thread from the top. Also I think I remember reading that Paul had put 650lb springs in, instead of 600lb springs. I’ll look in a minute... I’m thinking I may have to buy some lighter springs for my ℅’s. What’s everyone’s thoughts? 1BC94D60-1B4E-495C-AFA1-64A8C90A7D15.jpg

I'm running 16"x700s so not likely that.

And an alignment isn't going to change you CV axle.

That should be under warranty since you just bought them. I'd as cvj about it.

Hey man. So I’ve been talking with Matt on messenger and I see now that I am running 18” X 3” X 600lb springs. He’s thinking that those extra 2 inches are what’s causing me the problems, and seeing that you are running shorter springs as well... I also searched back on the build and saw that these are the original springs that was sent. 611D0F8D-9B54-400C-88A4-1B1467408856.jpg

hmm I thought he decided to change them from the original springs to a 16''. There should be a string of numbers on the springs. Take a photo and post it

Not really able to get a photo, but it says 18003000600S. The way Matt explained it is- 18 inch X 3inch X 600lbs. On frankenstein I see that you have 1800.300.0700S. So same as mine except yours are 700lbs and mine are 600lbs. Although talking to him he said he rocomends 16inch with this kit.

    Yeah you have 18x600.

I changed mine to 16x700. 16 is better. Load wise my 700s are great. I have 0 preload and it's soft though. So can do that or get 600s or 650s if they make those.

Sort of off topic. But if you wanted to be the new OP of this thread you could ask the mods to do that for you. That way you don't have to start a new one to keep track of whats been done

I’m definitely not an expert in alignment and suspension geometry yet but I just don’t see how that could be your problem.

Take some measurements so we can compare with what we have.
    Ride height=
    CO length eye to eye=
Dimension of LCA mount to ground=

we should be able to compare with our dimensions and tell you if your angles are funky for whatever reason.

then again it might have just been a bad CV or install(no offense) that caused your prob.

Will do! Thank you for the help! I will take measurements later like you asked. In the mean time, I just used the “measure” app on my iPhone. It shows that my driver side CV axle angle is 20 degrees, and my passenger is 16 degrees.

I was feeling the same. I thought 18" springs is pretty common on LT, and even then the shocks limit length, not springs. I am thinking a bad CV, bad install, or some weird binding but still can't see that just from driving on dry pavement in 4wd.

Well I ordered 16 inch springs from eibach... hopefully this lowers it a bit. I was thinking though, if this is the cause, wouldn’t I need to reposition my limit straps as well? Because essentially, I still should be able to flex to the same height as my 18inch springs.

The limit strap should be set up to keep the shock from fully extending. That measurement is set by the shock itself and doesn’t change with spring length.

18" Coils aren't that common actually. In fact they are really only recommend with flat bottom collars. With cone collars you get a 1.4'' or something of preload out of an 18'' coil. Plus depending on the coil you can possibly hit the block height of the coil which..is bad.

    a 16'' is better.

Is odd though either way, probably didn't really cause the CV issue I think , likely a bad CV. But still a good move to go to 16''.

Your geometry of travel isn't going to change, just the coil rate so you're good.

Thanks guys. Please excuse my ignorance as I am still learning the geometry and physics of all this suspension work. Thank you for y’all insight. Any ide what I should do with the 18 inch springs I take off?
