I did that and it helps. But crap gets on the lens especially in wet conditions, that affects them all

Check the contrast and brightness.... had the same problem. Also - wipe the camera with a cloth (any dirt causes problems)

    Here are my settings:

Turn the truck on and enter the display settings.

    - With lights off - the first two pictures are my settings. (Note the general and Camera settings in the picture)

    - With lights on - the last two are my settings. (Note the general and camera settings)

    - Also- my ‘Day Mode’ option is un-checked

Lights off Camera: Right in middle (both)

Lights off General: 8 clicks right (both)
    203F17DB-943D-4A58-A4DF-F34C609DC3F7.jpg

    Lights on General:
    9 clicks over for Brightness
    6 clicks over for Contrast

    Lights on Camera
    9 clicks over for Brightness
    4 clicks over for Contrast

    See if that helps....

I don't know about anyone else, but I can't make out the settings in your first and last photos.

Just edited with the ‘number of clicks to the right’. Posted this on my phone so was hard to tell how that landed on the forum. Hope this helps!

The camera on my 2017 TRD OR looks terrible at night compared to my wife's 2015 Honda minivan. It seems to me like the problem is with the angle of the camera and the intensity/angle of the license plate lights. Has anyone put in dimmer license plate lights or figured out a way to change the angle of the lights?

I can live with mine, but it is substantially poorer quality; both brightness and clarity as compared to my wife's 2018 Avalon. Her's looks like its HD 4K.

Replace backup and license plate bulbs with LED. Clean camera lens often

I had run the LED backup light replacement bulbs for a year or so, they helped a little, but the Osram bulbs are 3X brighter than the LEDs. Night and day difference.

We don't have the luxury of a rear view camera in 1st gens. I just back up till I hit something, then pull forward about 6 inches.

I’ve been running these since 2016. No issues and very bright.

This was a serious problem for me since in the winter it's dark when I have to back down a steep, curved driveway in the rain. Since I installed auxito error free led reverse lamps in place of the stock bulbs it's no longer an issue, literally night into day.

better reverse lights make all the difference, try a set of V6 Tritons from VLEDS , of course you'll need the meso adapters .

Clean camera and more rear light helps. I replaced my reverse bulbs and it made a huge difference
