poor engine performace

i have a 20016 Tacoma, V6, , the performance on the engine sucks, when you back off the throttle to coast a little bit and then step on the gas , theirs a sluggish pause and then the truck takes off , i have it in ECT mode , i no theirs a lot of other people with the same problems , what has everyone else done?

 

I may get shade thrown at me for this, but I installed an S&B Filters intake and it helped with throttle response greatly.

This is the first complaint about engine performance I have ever seen. Are you sure? Mine is like a rocket ship at all times.

Is that the 36 th generation tacoma ?

 

Sounds more like a transmission complaint if you are off the throttle and then it starts taking off. Have you had the transmission TSB for the 2016 Model?

Get the latest ECU update from the dealer.

Everyone says it does wonders for the shift points.

this problem did not just start happening , its not just taking off when theres no throttle , maybe it just needs a re flash or a computer update, ,havent done any of that at all ,

 

If it's a 2016 on the original ECU calibrations (04B01) then your really should ask the dealer to update to the latest (04B04). It makes a huge difference in all around performance, drivability and transmission behavior.
