Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
@Tacoma girl 2021: The RAM I had was a1500 eco diesel so yes it did get 23mpg all day long.
I'm looking to get rid of this tacoma. I need better fuel mileage than what I'm getting. I haven't liked it since I got it.
    UPDATE (edited 8:20pm):
Just completed a R/T from NE CT to SE TN - 1642 miles. Odometer now at 3,400+/-. Truck is fully stock aside from adding a Leer cap. Interstate MPGs calculated out from 18.9 to 20.7 using Cruise Control. Climbing hills when it downshifted to 4th (3K RPM at 67 MPH) really sucked the MPGs down. It's better than what I would have gotten with my '06 TRD OR 4.0L V6. If my history with the '06 offers any clues, I would expect the '21 TRD OR will slowly improve as the odometer climbs to 10-15K miles.
I'm not impressed, but not disappointed either. I didn't buy this truck with the expectation of vastly improved fuel mileage over my old one (it averaged 17 MPG from Aug to Dec), but one can hope.
Added: I think the improvement over time comes from a few things. Getting used to the truck and how to drive it frugally; the truck's running gear getting fully 'broken in,' and; a change to more road friendly tires (for 8-9 months/year) after the OEMs were replaced.

What i noticed towing a light trailer in the ECT S5 mode when going over 65 mph, it sucks gas like crazy averaging around 17 mpg. Going back to just S5 with the ECT off, i'll 19 mpg or a bit better.

Mine personally never improved. My driving habits made me get 16-18MPG for the first 36,000 miles I put on the truck. After that I switched to larger tires so the data starts to become unhelpful for most people.

I have had my "new" 2018 AC 4x4 for 4 weeks and have put 3000 miles on it, my worst tank was 17.5 bucking a North wind from Chicago to the UP, best was 23.7. Avg so far is 21.xx. I also have a 17 Tundra that avgs 17-18. Its all in how you drive, the best thing you can do is....slow the f#ck down!!! Over 72 the mpgs go in the crapper. You're gonna save yourself a few minutes at best.

I am now at 8500 miles on my 21 OR. I think Friday will be 8 weeks I've had it. Mind you, I'm switching back and forth every couple thousand miles between E10 and 100% gas, and after this tank will make the switch back to E10 for the last time in a while, but the last 15-1800 miles on pure gas have been over 19 mpg. Thus far I'd averaged 18-18.5, and I drive a lot of two lane highways with slow downs and speed ups all over, which I believe is the major drain on my economy. If it was just straight roads at 68mph, it'd probably average over 20.

I also just realized today after thinking my math through, I have been doing it wrong the entire time. My tires are still 10.7% larger than factory, but I was taking that number and multiplying it by the computers given fuel efficiency and then subtracting, but I should be adding it.

If the computer thinks I’ve used five gallons in fifty miles, that WOULD be 10MPG, however, since my odometer isn’t correct that would mean I’ve gone 10.7% further than fifty miles, which would be 55.35 miles which would now make my MPG 11.07

This in turn means that my current fuel economy, even with a 3” lift, 34” tires, and no re-gear is around 13-17 MPG. It varies a lot due to the stock gears. I however did the whole “fill it, drive and check efficiency with calculations” method, and it also stated I was getting around 15.7 MPG.

I drive the truck like it is stock, I expect to get up to speed in a reasonable time so I give it enough gas to accomplish that. Since that’s the case, I personally think it would be beyond easy to achieve 20+ MPG in a stock Taco.

Purchased Truck new 2021 TRD OR 3 March. on 5 March, drove 180 miles, then town driving. on 7 March, return trip 180 miles and town driving. Both highway drives 70 to 80 MPH depending on conditions. Next two fill ups combo of city/interstate around a city. Did a tune in between trip and the next 2 fill-ups. All stock otherwise. The tune helped downshifts, I have no idea about mileage.

The first 3 fill ups were 9 march because that is when i set up fuely to work. Not actual dates of fill-ups.

Same problem here.. I have 4500 miles on mine. My tanks usually average 12-14 MPG. Truck is stock everything. Figured it was my driving so started to drive like a grandma and constanly monitoring MPG and doing everything I could to maximze.. I got it to 16... :/ . I live in San Diego county and took a road trip to Vegas and was on cruise control pretty much the entire way. Filled up right before I left it only got 18.1 MPG. That seems wrong to me..I know most of my driving is small city trips so won't get the best but was expecting more than that. I hate to look like an idiot at the dealer when I take it in for oil change at 5k but might ask about it..

When my truck passed about 5k miles I started to notice an increase in mileage. Not sure what the reason for this is, maybe transmission control module learning better shift points or something. I’m inclined to think it’s not a result of changes in driving habits or conditions but I very well could be wrong about that. I did notice that now cruising at 80 mph my truck drops into 6th gear and stays there more consistently compared to the first 5k miles.

I use an app called “Fuelly”. Each time I fill up I input my mileage, gallons, and $/gallon and it gives me a report.

i tracked with Road Trip for nearly 10k miles but it started to seem redundant given the accuracy of the truck's onboard mpg computer.
