things which affect gas mileage: Air pressure too low, load you carry, tire size, the way a person drives(jack rabbit starts, idling too much, too fast of a speed, wind direction, terrain) and more. Tacoma's should get 18 to 23 or so mpgs. Good luck.

Sounds like you got a thirsty one. I average ~20 with light pressure on the skinny pedal.

I have a 2021 off road with about 1700 miles. I have noticed that after breaking the tranny in slowly, the mileage is starting to improve. Most of my trips are under 20 miles, usually city roads and highway combined. I am now getting about 18-19 mpg. I did baby the transmission for the first 1500 miles or so though. When I get heavy on the gas, say doing 70 or 75 or 80 on the highway, my per trip mpg goes way down.

on highway road trip days, about 22-26. but during the week I manage 20.
I stick to the speed limit and the moment it starts moving I put in S- as oppose to stick in in D.

I had a full size RAM before this tacoma, I averaged 23 all day long with a heavy foot. The other day when I averaged 40mph for 1.75 hours I got 19.6 but that was way below the speed liyon bad roads. It doesn't matter how much I baby it and go 55 mph it won't get over 16.7

A typical trip yesterday was to my church. A mile on my not too well maintained road (had to use 4 WD), 5 miles @ 45mph, and the last 2 @ 35 mph. I got 18.2 mpg.

    .
You got 23 mpg with full size 5.7? I dont believe that, unless it was all highway at like 50-60.

Taco actually gets advertised or better mpgs. I do 80% city driving and get about 17 in winter and about 18 in the summer. Highway could be anywhere from 23.5(if going no faster than 60) to 17. Im running 265/70/17 C load AT tires.

Do you let your truck warm up for a while? Do you idle a lot? Your truck is still pretty new, maybe just needs to break-in.

The idling and warming up will cut that gas mileage. The day I picked mine up the salesman started it and then spent about 45 minutes going over it. When I pulled out of the dealer parking lot, the mileage tracker said I had dropped about 20 miles, when I had actually gone about 20 feet.

i put 265-75-16's on mine after the 245's wore out, and my mileage only went down by 1-2 mpg and i still average 19-21 all the time...all depends on the weather, driving style, etc...but that does sound low..and they are rated higher than that.

It's all about the acceleration. Baby it on take off and you'll see significantly better numbers. I drive my truck like a car so I get 13-14 city.

Also, cruise control uses more gas than me driving manually from my experience.

Just switched to 33s, and on mainly highway I'm getting about 18.5/19 with correcting for the speedo difference.

I'm currently getting 20-21 mpg average here in Maryland on my stock TRD sport. It has the latest ECU update as well. That's basically my 15 mile one way work commute where 5 of those miles are city and the other 10 are highway.

If I'm doing just pure highway trips, I've easily gotten over 25 mpg keeping around 65-70 mph.

Also, this is the winter fuel mileage. I expect it to get better when the temperatures warm up and the summer blend is used again.

It's all about how you drive... for example, when going down hills, let the vehicle speed up a little to help when going back up the oncoming hill. Having to accelerate or drop gears to get up a hill kills the highway mileage.

Dealers lie to sell trucks...as do manufacturers. Sticker MPG is downhill with a tailwind.

I've got less than 1k on my truck and it seems like I've been pretty consistently getting 16-18 just cruising around. Highway MPG was not bad either. I am pretty impressed with it overall, I just wish the gas tank was a bit larger.

I'm at less than 1K miles. My one-way work trip is 3miles. If it's not work, then no more than 5 miles. I'm usually showing around 13mpg. Made a 190 miles round-trip trip once going mostly 85mph and got @18.5mpg. That went down to about 16.5mpg for the whole tank.
