I have a 2016 limited dcsb. I'm on a 3inch lift all the way around and 285/70/17. I get about 19mpg. I keep the cruise control on 65. California lol

Poor gas mileage? What's your credit to debt ratio?

I disagree with your disagreement. Cruise control is pretty crude. Only time it would provide optimal mileage is on perfectly level road. If you keep gas constant and let the truck slow down going uphill and speed up going downhill you'll end up with better mileage than if you let cruise control gas it to get up the hill maintaining speed and then let it engine brake to not exceed the cruise speed going downhill. Of course theres a limit to this... if the hill is sufficiently steep you'll need to gas it to maintain speed but cruise control does more than it needs to in most cases and not letting it roll out on downhills is certainly not the most efficient.

It really all depends on the programming of the vehicle. My prius when cruise is set barely gives any gas when speed is dropping to catch up.

Tacoma on the other hand, goes in give it all shes got mode....

I agree that CC isnt best on steep hills, but on everything else, its hard to beat.

I finally got to put some real highway miles on the truck. 300 mile (6.5hr) trip to the inlaws yesterday. Went through a lot of stop and go traffic, and a lot of time at 65mph, except for the last hour at 70+. I averaged 24mpg, which I'm happy with considering I am around 14-15mpg around town at home.

Yep. I calculated I'm off by 9% with my 33" ST MAXX compared to the original factory tires my truck came with. That 9% doesn't seem like a lot but it can throw off MPG calculations by over 1 MPG. And it throws off your oil change interval since the Odometer is wrong as well.

Things folks need to consider when they change tire sizes.

I had 285/70/17's and my odometer and fuel economy computer were right at 10% off. If your computer says you're getting 16mpg, you're really getting 17.6 ish. If you are driving 60 mph, you're really going 66.

Just brought home a brand new 2017 double cab TRD off road. First tank of gas I'm averaging just over 22mpg having to drive back home 170 miles or so into the mountains and over an 11,300ft pass...I thought it would be a lot less so I'm pleasantly surprised.

I love and hate my mileage, but it is dependent on my right foot and wind to be a hater. I came out of a 2014 Tundra CM 4x4 that reacted the same way, go figure. Over 70 kilt both trucks, strong headwind, take another 1-3 mpg. Overall very pleased as I see 7 mpg +/- improvement from the 'Thundra' on comparable trips and tank averages. We sold our 23' ski boat, and no longer pull the big enclosed snowmobile trailer so the Tacoma fits our needs better now. Added bonus, the wife actually likes to drive the Tacoma as it is easier to park etc..

I will admit, the V8 sound is sorely missed and the Tacoma does not pull our 2-place enclosed snowmobile trailer as easily, but that was expected.
