How does the DIY TRD intake sound/feel in comparison to say, the AFE intake? Just curious.

Same diameter. This mod is mostly to replace standard resonator with the TRD resonator for better sound.

I just installed the HPS. I preferred it so I didn't have to order a bunch of different components. Plus I wanted NO resonator hoping for MORE sound.
REALLY easy to install, took about 5-10 mins

I am wondering the same thing, the HPS doesn't seem loud enough to me. Although, I also have a Borla exhaust so I can't tell which sound is coming from what
Does anyone know if having a cone filter makes a better sound than the OEM filter?

Yeah. That’s a good review. I don’t want to order a bunch of stuff either.

It's a TRD resonator, it replaces bigger standard resonator. The smaller the resonator the more sound you get from the intake.

I did the trd intake flow accelerator, K&n drop in filter and a airaid throttle body spacer and noticed a little more low end and noise all together plus a little better mpg. I’m sure I’ll be hated on for the k&n filter and the spacer.

Look at all these parts and they still add up to quite a bit of $. A poorer man’s solution would be just to chop off the resonator box and seal it with a piece of plastic and epoxy. You’ll still have the same vroom vroom sound.

You can hack a lot of parts and spend pennies on the dollar modding, but it'll look like sh!t. The purpose of this DIY was to make it clean, factory looking/performing intake at a lower price. I mean at $160.00 in parts vs $320-$350 (TRD intake), I think it's a pretty good deal, IMO.

I bought all 4 pieces, figured I could try and shoehorn them into my 2.7 4cyl version. But it does't look like that's going to work out, very easily.

Anyone interested in buying the pieces? I'll ship them to ya. PM me if interested, I'm going to post them in the classifieds when I get home from work.

I'd be very impressed if it'd fit
