Pretty sure that's almost all up hill... going from dry lake bed to Sierra mountains. Elevation is constantly increasing.

That is still super low. When I drive from San Diego to Colorado, that is steep uphill much of the way, at high speed and high altitude, loaded with luggage, and I still usually get 20-21mpg.

I notice you have an OR - that continues the unscientific trend I've notice on here that OR's get bad mileage.

    Any head wind?
Also the heat out there right now is going to play a role in this.

    Keep off the accelerator constantly
Get to cruising speed and extremely slowly give is gas to keep at that speed.

Or use the mileage reader one page down from the speedometer...to guage better.

Worst part pretty much that WHOLE trip is incline wether you see it or not.

    Vegas like 2200ft tahoe.....like 62-6400 I think

OR's have the larger ring and pinon.... this can equate to worse fuel mileage.. but I'm betting this OP drives at over 75mph+ I've noticed with my 2016 TRD OR 4x4, that MPG's above 70mph just tanks with a quickness, but under 70MPH it holds steady at around 18 MPG +

thats with A/C on, and music blaring.. i also have a tonneau cover, about 200+lbs of gear in the bed, cooler, water, etc.. and a RTT on hirise bed bars.

Go 60 rather than 70, there's not too much else to do honestly.

I alwso dont understand why we are having this discussion once again.... its a TRUCK!! they are inherintly shitty on gas mileage... it has the aerodynamics of a brick, and a V-6 engine with decent horsepower... it is meant to tow a small load, or drive around town, and hit ok fuel mileage at 65MPH (national highways standard speed).... what more do you want?

maybe you should have gotten a tesla, or a prius...

I know the summer formula gas we have in CA doesn't help. I just drove back from the Coos Bay area (Oregon) to the Sacramento area, so ups and downs, with two people, camping gear and a couple of bikes on a hitch rack and we averaged about 19 or 20.

Drove 6000+ miles on a trip Out West last fall and the sweet-spot for my OR DCSB loaded down with camping gear was the US highways and state roads where I drove a consistent 55-60ish mph. 70mph interstate speeds it started decreasing rapidly. Interstates with no speed limit, where I drove 75-80 and up, forget about it, efficiency plummeted.

    Yes, but  .

MT Sports have the same 8.75in axle with a lower 4.30 ratio. My average is below, but recent fill ups are in the 21.5 region and going up.
