Watched a ford ranger video last night where the stated mpg's given by the computer were not really even close.

Just filled up my first tank and had to do the manual calculation since I don't have the fancy "puter and got 21.5.
I do have the 4 cyl and had a mix of hwy and city driving.

My dash readout will read 20-24 but if I do the math it’s more like 16-19. Similar variations for every vehicle I have ever owned.

My computer tank average on my 2019 SR5 has always been within a couple tenths MPG to my hand calculated numbers.

I just finished a trip of 1840 miles in my 2016 Off Road. The worst mileage on a tank was just over 20MPG, the best just over 24MPG. Most of the trip was at 70MPH or slower and I was up and down hills constantly. On the flat I left her in D. In the hills I drove in 5th and anywhere I was below 45MPH I drove in 4th. Great truck, excellent mileage, just have to realize its HP and Toque foibles. Different than my old 5 speed Supra but lots of fun just the same.

Same here for my 2018 SR.
I just hit about 8400 on the ODO and my truck seems to be getting better on the highway. Still around 17.5 pure city driving but just got this for a 90 mile highway trip.
68-70 MPH, cruise control, no stops.
    Very happy with this.

I have a 2019 trd sport long bed. Completely stock. Besides some stickers and grill and im getting 12-14mpg city and 16mpg on highway it all depends on the road and rpms your truck has to go in order to get up Hills. I live in a very very hilly place so that's why I get such bad mpg. In traffic I get about 10mpg because gas stop gas stop its stupid but is what it is. Go for smiles per gallons not miles per gallons that's what our badass trucks are made for.

showing 27mpg with a full tank of gas means nothing, I can get it to show 30mpg, take a pic with your tank almost empty.

What's the fun in that? :D

(Taken in a 4-banger rental cruising at 35mph for about 8 miles, was stuck behind a concrete truck. MPGs went straight to shit after I got out from behind him).

    Stock and staying that way
Interesting. I have checked the computer dozens of times. It is almost always +/- .2 MPG for me. The one exception was a tank where I towed a trailer weighing several thousand pounds, using ECT, and the computer read 1.8 MPG high.

    Oh and this...

I live in NH where it's hilly but not mountain pass hilly. I seem to avg 20mpg pretty easy if I drive it a bit slower then I normally would. I have done one road trip where I avg'd 23, not sure I'll see that again. I've noticed going above 70 with any load more than then person driving kills the mpg. I'm happy with 19-20 coming from a GMC with a 6.2.

I'm looking to put 265/75/16 Duratracs on. I'm expecting at least 1-2mpg avg loss.

It's not a brag or anything when you don't include the fuel gage in the pic.

Jumped to the last message... what’s the difference between this thread and the other hundred or so equivalent’s? For most people, the 6 banger gets ~20 MPH. If yours doesn’t get that, then your driving style is most likely the issue. If you get better, then that’s awesome... but who really cares.

People keep displaying just the mpg, I want to see the next screen with trip time and distance along side these. I can get 50mpg too by coasting the hill near my home.
