Back in July I picked up a Tacoma, we recently purchased a house that needed extensive remodeling and my only car was a Fiat. With factories shut down all the dealers had markups on their trucks which was really annoying, but I found a family owner dealer about 1.5hr north by Sacramento that had the spec I wanted (minus the LED headlights) and would sell at MSRP. So my friend and I drove up and purchase the car.
Coming from only 2 door sports cars and currently only the Fiat, the truck was very different feeling to drive. Initially I wanted a Raptor, but seemed like half of them get lemoned and I wasn't a fan of the Focus RS quality when I had one. On top of that paying 70k+ for a Ford was a hard pill to swallow. Even when we test drove it, my wife and I both thought it was a little too big for us. The Tacoma honestly seems like the perfect size, but I just wish it had more power, I'll likely address this in the future.
I always have a habit of finding a bunch of parts I want and prioritizing them in an excel sheet right after I buy a car so that's exactly what I did the first night back. I don't have plans to go too heavy on the mods till the house is actually done (project still ongoing) but I've picked up a few things here and there than have either been cheap/free or a necessity imo.

I was decently active on the BMW forums with the M3, so figured I'd start a thread here too for all the build updates from here on out.

8/7/20 - TRD PRO Grille Installed and Raptor Lights
Shortly after I got a TRD PRO grille for free from a friend of mine, and I saw Raptor lights on sale for $25. Personally, I love how the raptor lights look and my favorite configuration is 3 lined at the top of the grille. I think they look really good paired to some of the upgraded aftermarket headlights which I'm planning for later. I forgot to take pics of the raptor light process and cutting them to size.

    10/19/20 Audio Upgrade

I wasn't a fan of the factory audio system, but after sitting in my friend's Hummer that had a crazy expensive system done, I hated mine even more. All I could hear is the distortion and started getting annoyed there was no bass and little clarity. I spent the next couple days watching all the videos I could find on audio installs as I had never done one before and planned to order everything off of Crutchfield. My wife reminded me I should support local businesses during Covid, so ended up picking up everything from a shop about 10min away for better pricing than I could find online lol. They were even nice enough to let me use their distortion detector to tune it at the end.
Ended going with Infinity KAPPA components up front, and 3-ways in the rear. Apline X-A90V Amp, and JL Audio Stealthbox for the sub. Ran full new speaker wires and modified a Taco Tunes headunit harness to run to the amp. For some additional improvement I also added sound deadening the doors and the rear wall. Everything sound so much better now, less road noise too. Only complaint is that I get this background hiss when there's no audio playing, seems like it's from the headunit, because when I unplug it there's no noise. Overall I think it was a pretty clean install for being my first, but if I had a garage with some other tools, I would've made some better brackets and mounts.

I do plan on taking the truck outdoors, once I can mod it more. Probably so easy trails while it's stock. Next mods are likely a front bumper, headlights, lift, and the TE37 (ordered but will take a few months)
Being my first truck, any tips and tricks you guy might have will be appreciated. Thanks!

Very nice:thumbsup: my one recommendation is take the steps off and get sliders. I did the same thing thinking the steps would be ok but I’ve hung them up a couple of times on some light off roading. I’m currently saving my pennies for some sliders.

Actually took them off today and listed them on FB. Planning to sell them to offset the cost of sliders, didn't realize the wait time for some parts were so long...
