Alright so I installed the flimsy pop and lock tailgate so I can at least have the option to lock my tailgate. Man what a piece of shit. I cannot believe the quality of this product and am disappointed in Toyota for not offering an OEM option for the second gens.

While uninstalling my original tailgate lock the plastic bracket holding the backup camera broke. Now my camera is held on by only one bolt which is also on a piece of the plastic that is about to break off.

Does anyone know where I can get a new bracket that just houses the backup camera? Not sure if you guys will know exactly what I’m talking about or if I should post pictures.

Post a picture. Someone might have what you're looking for but I think that part is part of the camera.

Yeah, it’s the housing of the backup camera that it’s installed onto. 1 screw should hold it fine though.

Yeah it’s not part of the camera but it holds the camera housing in place. Yeah I would be totally fine with one screw but unfortunately that one screw is literally cracking the plastic so it’s hanging on by a thread. It cracked when I took it off originally, didn’t even tighten it down to make it crack. Not sure how long it will hold up

Just superglue the crack. Should be fine since it’s not a moving part

Olathe McGeorge online Toyota store has fair OEM pricing. Agreed on pop n lock quality. You can feel in the handle mechanism what a pos it is.

After the color faded horribly, I put my OEM one back on. Toyota doesn’t care about us 2nd gens anymore (we lost them enough money for frame repairs and replacements.), so I don’t see an OEM option ever in our future.

Comes as part of the camera so option is buy a used camera on eBay or make 2 bracket arms out of metal and mount them as I did. No pics as done when I mounted a new pop and lock handle. You use the embedded screw inserts as the base to secure on the handle. My old pop and lock handle self destructed after 10 years which had a different camera mount and as luck would have it the new 2019 handle used the original mount which was long gone ha ha.

Thanks for this info. Should be easy enough to make a new bracket from some thin metal. Might post pictures and dimensions later on this thread to help someone out in the future when I do it.
