Still awaiting on a response from tech support.

I am installing the unit on my 2019 Tacoma and am puzzled by the instructions which say splice the two wires into the black and blue wires on the “IC1” 10-pin white connector on the driver’s side. Don’t see any connector markings or indicators so I am not certain which one I should be fooling with. Some have more pin slots and less wires so I can’t say what I am looking for. Anyone have any idea which one I am to be using?

ktjo4x4.com sells a plug-n-play kit so you want have to worry about splicing the wires.

Saw that plug, but since it was light grey, I wasn’t certain. Thanks for the picture.

Nice video. I thought that I recall that the main wire was bing run up the passenger frame rail to that grommet, but the P&L sheet says drivers side. Confusing since they say use the blue and black wires on the drivers side but the video says use the green red wires. Think it makes any difference?

I honestly don't know if it makes a difference. But when I did install my Pop and Lock kit, I followed the video down to the t and everything works. I have since made the switch over to the oem tailgate lock and sold my Pop and Lock kit.

Well, I hooked up the wires to the drivers side as instructed but when I hit the lock function in the remote, the doors all lock but the tailgate goes to the unlock position. When I hit the unlock function on the remote, the doors unlock normally but the tailgate does nothing.

I got the OEM kit and it comes with a harness where you daisy chain the connectors. No splicing needed and it was easy to install myself.

I also followed this video. Doing everything they did in the video worked for me, I spliced into the passenger side as well.

Finally got it working. Used the passenger side instructions instead of the drivers side and all appears well.

    Thanks everyone for the responses.

What is the main difference between the pop & lock and the OEM lock?

Just a heads up the aluminum bracket in that kit doesn't line up perfectly with the holes in the actuator so it will probably require some massaging with a dremel. Seems it's a pretty well-documented issue that while easily fixed, she hasn't done anything about. Also I found it extremely helpful while assembling everything inside the tailgate to pull up the video on the website and turn my phone upside down to watch it.

Quicksand with hood protector, color matching decals on tailgate latch, mudflaps, glovebox, and tailgate hitch cover.
I also have a 2019, and installed a popnlock from Toyota, with their part number, before they actually came out with their completely own version for 2020. Their 2019 official toyota version was actually a popnlock, but with a toyota part number. Anyway, I did it slightly differently, as I installed it with its own lock/unlock button under the left side of the dash, rather than connecting it with the door locks. It all depends on how one uses the tailgate lock, but for me, since I rarely need to unlock the tailgate, it made no sense for it to be constantly locking/unlocking every time I locked/unlocked the doors, whether or not I connected it in with the driver door or the passenger door. Here is a link to my video showing how I installed it...

I’ll look into that idea, too, makes more sense as there would be less wear and tear on the tailgate actuator over time.

I installed the pop n lock in 2018 on my ‘17 using the exact same Taco Twonz video with positaps on the passenger side harness. This way the tailgate unlocks only when all doors are opened this saves a little bit of wear.
Have thought about going back and installing the accessorides harness but it works fine and don’t feel the need to mess with the install.
