Exactly! I just don't see the need to have the tailgate lock and unlock all the time, or even if the popnlock was connected to the passenger side, and then, would only unlock when all four doors were unlocked, still, to me, that is too much. Now, if I was a construction worker and was in and out of my tailgate all the time, then I could definitely see it being connected as Toyota official instructions say, to the driver door lock. I have had it now for about a year, installed, and I rarely unlock the tailgate, and with my Tonneau cover on there, along with my tailgate safety mechanism, I feel secure that my tailgate will at the very least, be somewhat secure from theft! Here is my video on safeguarding your tailgate!

Yeah I would not go back and change it either, probably, if I was you! It was just something I thought about when I was looking into getting the tailgate power lock, but at that time, I knew I didn't want it constantly locking and unlocking. That was when I found that Popnlock actually MAKES the switch featured in my video. It was designed for those who did not already have keyless door locks, but it was just what I was looking for, and it looks like it actually came that way from the factory, which is what I wanted!

I would have gone with that option had I known. Definitely preferable to my current install, but no going back now, everything works the way it’s supposed to. Eventually I might do that when I have to replace parts.
