Just had my '12 taco checked for a loud pop/clunk from the front end that occurs at low speeds with steering cocked (like backing out or pulling into driveway). Here is what the shop said:

"Your issue is created by the steering stops ( frt of the lower a-arm, close to the lower ball joint and the corresponding contact on the lower ball joint fixture) when you increase the lift you change the radius angles of the contact pads ( lower a-arm – spindle up right) so when you apply max steering travel the 2 contacts are no longer aligned and anytime the vehicle initially moves in either direction the contacts have to climb over each and a clunk / pop is produced from components flexing (bushings)"

I actually did notice some wear on the steering stops before taking it in, so it seems logical, I've just never heard of this issue in all of my time on TW, and my truck has a pretty reasonable and common lift (maybe 2"). Also he didn't mention a solution for it in his email.

    Any thoughts / experiences?
