    Here's the description :

Park truck. Let sit. Start truck. Reverse through a turn (ie. exit any normal parking spot). "Pop".

The "pop" is felt slightly through the steering wheel and is definitely audible!

My guess at this point was a sway bar end link because one of them has a torn seal, but upon further inspection off the truck, it doesn't seem to be catching.

    Thanks in advance.

It could be your ABS turning on or doing a "self test", or something to that affect. I'm not too familiar with ABS systems, but my truck does the exact same thing.
After moving forward a short distance, it always makes that "whoosh" sound, and sometimes I can fell a vibration going up the steering wheel.

Seems like it's coming from the front end... maybe outer passenger side? No idea.

I have the same noise. It's a loud metallic pop when I reverse to the right. Going to remove the skid plate and see if that makes a difference.

Last time I had a noise like that, it was a rock in the coil springl

I've had the same pop for a while now. I still haven't been able to pinpoint it. Sounds like its coming from my transfer case area. I have lubed and inspected all my U-joints and they all look fine. Also lubed my rear leaf springs that didn't help either.

Me too... 08 tacoma. I just figure lube the zerks and wait to see if anything is going to fail. Took it to the shop just to see if they could make it do it and replace the cv but it was a no go. So now the waiting game starts.

I know that my axle seal is leaking on the front diff and my tie rod boots are leaking but the first time I heard the loud popping was after driving 10 miles on a very rocky fire road. I tried to make it do it again and haven't been able to replicate the pop.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
CV joints make a constant "clunk" noise in a turn. It starts quiet and get louder until they fail.
Does it pop going into gear or just when you start moving?

Mine is when moving, more when in reverse. Also when hitting the brakes(not that often)

mine is when moving in reverse only! the more I think about it only happened twice... if its not caused by the leaking diff or tie rods then it probably was a rock stuck somewhere in the suspension

Mine seems to happen when you reverse and the weight of the truck transfers from from one side to the other and it just clunks as it something shifts and that's it.

Chris. I might make it by the meet tonight... if not, I will take you up on that offer. I'm not new to auto mechanics, but I am to my truck. Thanks for offering to help me out.
