Pop & Lock install directions

Received my Pop & Lock kit today and as others said it shows for a 2007-2014 Tundra on the box and the instructions are for that was well. Sent a note to New Level to see if they have the instructions for the Tacoma so I get the right wires and where to run them. Anyone else run into this?

I saw that but want to be sure about the wires to tap into, not sure if they are the same.

 

I followed these instructions for the 16 Tacoma and everything worked perfectly.

 

Thanks! Yes, they sent me those this afternoon. With those instructions does it open with one or two clicks on your remote. I'm thinking its on the first click and I was hoping to get it on the two clicks when the passenger doors open so not to run the actuater every time I open or close just the drivers door.

 

Your thinking is correct, it unlocks with the driver door on first click. I don't mind this setup, but I can understand not wanting it as well. So, hopefully someone else will chime in for you on wiring it to unlock on second click. I believe o read somewhere that it can still be wired to drivers side to work as you want, but not sure which wires were used instead.

 

Didn't hear back from them on the wiring for the rear doors, may look at it next week when I get a chance to spend some time looking maybe in the B pillar harness.

 

Just wire it to the front passenger kick panel. You will be able to cut off 2-3' of wire they provide. Very easy and there is a good access point right under the passenger front seat.

 

Understand, but looking for it to unlock on the second click with the passenger doorsand the wires they say to connect to are for the drivers door (1click) per Tyler0534 and as I had determined from the updated instructions. Now if the ones for the passenger door are in that kick panel, great, just need to find which two.

 

Yep if you could get someone to tag those two wires and take some clear photos to post ......That would be sweeeeet. I'm a dumbazzzzz and cant figure out or see from the one previous photo I've seen.

 

Here you go. Keep in mind, once you remove the kick panel, find the 'boot' in the door opening which is where all of the wires go into the door. My truck has two sub-harnesses which route into the door. It's easy to trace the sub-harnesses into that boot which routes into the door within the kick panel area. As you can see, I tapped the green wire to the light green wire and the blue wire to the red wire. You can unplug this sub-harness to make the connection easier. Additionally to verify you have the right sub-harness, actuate the power locks while it's unplugged. If the passenger door power lock is inoperative, you know you have the right sub-harness.

Note: Normally I don't use scotch locks but I used what I had on hand since my posi-taps had not arrived.
Note2: Some people recommend greasing the lock actuator - I didn't. A little white lithium grease wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks, great write up. Based on the orientation, it looks like you pulled the passenger kick panel out correct? I installed mine today with the new instructions and have it working with the drivers door till in could figure out the wiring for the passenger doors, I recall a red and green like these on the drivers side as well. Will have to pull it apart on Monday to see if I can find these two and try it.

 

Correct, passenger kick panel. Remove the sill plate and then the kick panel.

 

definitely have to get one of these soon! toyotas stupid design with a different key...smh

 

Cracks me up that on the Amazon site that says it wont fit a Taco truck.

I will be doing it soon. They say it's the pink/red stripe and pink/green stripe wire. Located in a group of wires running vertically down the driver side kick panel. There is electrical tape around the group about a few inches from the floor that can be unwrap to expose the wires. Hope that helps
