Does anyone have this on their 09 Tacoma with the rear camera and does it work good? I found one on ebay and was planning on buying it but wanted to make sure it was good and would work with the rear camera

Only the PL5300 will work with the camera on the 09's, but they are proving hard to come by. We have a group buy that has been waiting on them since last year and there are talks of waiting another month atleast. There is a guy on Ebay (in Canada) that has been selling these with not that bad of a turn around. If you have the camera you will need the PL5300!

The new 8250's are looking to be camera compatible soon. Read the group buy thread, they're prototyping.

Hey guys, new here. I have a question on the installation of the PL5300. I just got mine in the mail the other day and was starting to install it. I was close to being done, but could not seem to get a piece of the old lock off of the camera. This is kinda hard to describe, but I'll give it a go. Between the actual camera and the electric, there is the piece of the old handle that holds the camera in place from the inside. I tried to separate the camera from the electric to get the piece of plastic off, but can't seem to do it (also scared to break anything in the process). Usually, I would think there is a peice you could push in or pull up to release the camera, but I can not seem to do it. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

If you mean the bracket that holds the camera in to the tailgate handle, it has two very small phillips screws that you have to remove.

No, I had the camera out of the bracket. It is just that the camera is attached to the wires, but stuck right in the middle , is the plastic part that you would use to reconnect the camera to the handle. The plastic part is the bracket with the screws, but I have taken the screws out, which disconnects it from the handle, but if I hold up the camera with the wires attached, you see the camera, then the piece of plastic, then the wires that connect. (basically, the plastic piece is just stuck in the middle of the two and I need to get it off). But to do so, i need to disconnect the camera from the wire insert. I can't figure out how to do that. It is most likely something very simple, but i had a few friends look at it and they can't figure it out either. I'll try to post some pics after the weekend.

The wire plug on the bottom of the camera? You need to squeeze the plug's tabs, if I recall correctly. It took a little fiddling till I got it the right way.

So it wasn't a very hard install? I'm guessing instructions come with the lock? I'm still waiting on mine to arrive.... should be here soon
