Pop 'N' Lock - Won't Open Tailgate

I moved everything from the box into the UHAUL and just left it unlocked...if people want to hide in the box or steal the cold air from inside, so be it.

 

I know you probably know, but it's worth mentioning, the longer plastic piece of the key, goes to the left. Is it difficult to turn, or does turning it do nothing? Might give some clues to what's going on internally. Dealer will probably want title or some authentication that you're you.

 

Probably a different tailgate, original could have been damaged or stolen - would explain why your key won’t work. Just started freezing up here, and mine is acting up - had to use the mini fob key twice tonight. Lube and inspection this weekend I guess!

The key physically won't go into the hole. I even held it open with a screwdriver and sprayed some weasel piss in it.

 

Im gonna check the "Police Traceable" stickers tomorrow and see if they all match. Seems like this could be the case.

 

There's a chance the hole could have ice in it, unlikely as that may seem. Squirting some alcohol in there might give u a fighting chance.

My tailgate has a different police tracing number on it than every other part of my truck that has the serial number, my tailgate is either a replacement or was stolen by previous owner which explains why my key won't work in the tailgate.
