Pop top shell?

Are there any manufacturers that make a shell that pops straight up? I know Gaia makes a wedge style shell (w/o canvas)… Saw an old vw today and thought it would be a great application on a cap. I’ve considered the topper ez lift but feel this would be better since it wouldn’t be supporting nearly as much weight.

 

I’d like to see one that opens like an old tool box. I guess that won’t ever happen.

That looks like about a 1979 Bus. I had one for 4 years, not a pop up. Fun to drive around.
