A friend and I have set out to create a custom solution for those who don't want a full slide-in camper, but still can create a space of their own in the bed of their pickup. The end goal is to have a canvas style pop-top that gains you headroom and sleeping space while still having a lower profile for daily use.

As a corporate professional by weekday and an outdoor enthusiast by weekend, I was looking for a solution that would lend to 2-3 nights off the grid while still allowing my truck to be aesthetically and functionally as close to normal as possible. A hard roof was pivotal as the many of nights spent outdoors in the PNW lend to snow and rain, so shelter from the elements was a must have.

The cool thing about this is that it allows for complete creativity for the interior of the bed. I can leave it as is for gear storage, or go big and build out cabinetry and whatnot. I'm only familiar with this being done one other time.

Here's a slight teaser with more to come...feel free to follow along as we explore some new ground!

Have you seen them on any other trucks?

We are possibly going to be doing one for his Tundra as well once we get this dialed in.

I saw two other builds like that on a RAM on expo portal, I didn't subscribe to those threads so don't have the links, but you could search them up
