That happened to my other car when I got it off the lot. Luckily I traded mine in for a taco now

When I bought my 09 taco, drove it home that night, next morning on the way to work, took a turn into a road a little wide as some one was waiting at the stop at the end of the road I was turning into. They just put nice granite curbing in recently, and I sliced the side of my rear tire wide open. I put less than 20 miles on it, including the test drive.

Sucks duder. I'm waiting to cut one up. My 3 miles of Arkansas flint road every day kills cheapo tires. Best tires on my road have been Michelin Defenders followed by BFG Long Trail.

Most easily cut or destroyed tires for me have been:

Yoko Geolanders--cut new thru the tread blocks and carcass in one week
Kumho Solus--lumped up all 4 with broken belts in 20,000 miles
Walmart's Liberator, Hankook Mileage Plus, BFG TA, and Touring TA were equal in not lasting beyond 1/2 tread before being cut up

Hankook Mileage Plus gets the award for scariest, least traction tire on any surface of anything I've ever driven. I was relieved when they got cut so I could replace them.

Yeah I was going to put wheels/tires on it next weekend anyways. Going with Toyo M/t most likely still on the fence with a/t. I kind of want to put some old school white or black steelies on it instead of waiting for scs ray 10s to get in stock, since I need tires now I might not get the ray 10s

Did it happen to you to? haha

I remember watching a youtube video of the trd pro and they popped the tire as well...

I know it's a little off topic but I bought a brand new 1986 Nissan 300ZX back in the day and a rock came up off the interstate on the way home from the dealership and busted the windshield.

    Crap happens.

Sounds like you got some tire experience.

I bet there would be fewer early switches if they were KO2's.

    I'd switch them out.

    Fuck KO2s.

So would all the average Tacoma buyers who are soccer moms and soccer dads.

If Tacomas came stock with knobbys there would be loads of people complaining about MPGS/road noise and so on

What do you recommend? I need something for mostly pavement, but still works reasonably well on dirt, mud, snow, etc.

Is there really a go to tire everyone agrees on? Seems like there isn't.

Why doesn't Toyota let you pick out your own tires... they come with tire X... but for $300 we can upgrade them to Duratracs or KO2s.

Because it's hard to drive trucks off a trailer into the lot on bare wheels without tires.

.. and again, 99% of buyers don't want either of those tires. TW is a niche group and a unimaginably small segment of ownership. Most people love the stock tires. Hence.. stock tires.
