I've got a '19 TRD OR long bed double cab. When I brake or accelerate I'll usually hear a pop from somewhere around the front and/or rear axles at the wheels. If I brake hard or accelerate hard it happens without fail. I'll often hear it as well with articulation if I'm climbing up a ledge or a curb while turning and my weight is shifting.

The popping happens right as the truck is fully stopping or just starting to accelerate, so I almost get the sense that the body or frame or something isn't secured quite right and the pop is the sound of shifting parts as the wheels come to a stop or lurch forward. Not sure that's actually the issue... but that's what it feels like, for reference.

The original owner changed the suspension. Bilstein 6112/5160, all pro leaf springs, JBA upper control arms, U-bolt flip, and super bump bump stops.

Just looking for some data points. Anyone else with a third gen have similar experiences? This just a tacoma thing? Something specific someone can point me to?

Sounds like your front brakes. I had similar issues. I pulled and cleaned brake pad shims, and pins. Solved issues of popping.

I'll look into it. That doesn't sound right though. The pop is a larger feeling/sound than I'd associate with the brakes. But who knows!

    Thanks.

Couldn't hurt to check that all the suspension parts are torqued. I purchased a used vehicle with a lift and had the torques checked shortly after purchase. A lot of people tend to forget that... Or just don't care.

Oh thats interesting. Honestly it feels like the body is popping. Like the chassis is coming to a full stop or lurching forward and the inertia and a bad connection tot he body is making for a popping noise/feeling.
