Mine is a 2019 and makes a similar odd noise when reversing & breaking at low speed (backing into the driveway). Let me know what you find please!

Dude. You gotta add fiber into your Tacomas diet! It says right in the manual somewhere…

I was thinking it might be the alcohol in the fuel. Back when I had alcohol in my diet there were some pretty foul sounds in the mornings.

I bet it is your steer rack bushings. Mine have been toast for a while now. What you described reminded me of what I’ve experienced. Just got the bushings in the mail today .

This thread cracks me up...for a Saturday at the beach...for wife's bday weekend.

BTW, my Sport makes a lot of crackling noises when the suspension is activated.

Like the joints need to be greased or something.

My friend Eric said to grease the mount bushings that connects to the front frame.

Check LCA bolts and cam bolts. Tighten as much as you can

I've recently had the same popping noise only when I'm hitting the brakes and turning. I'm going to have to try greasing that mount. Great video!!!

i had the same noise 23k miles. It’s fairly simple once you track down the sound. For me i just had to pull my front brake pads and grease the outside of the pads to quiet it down. It’s just the piston contacting the back of the pad and probably has no grease. Every vehicle will have this issue if no grease is used on brake pads. Best of luck!
