Hi guys. I have a weird one. I have a 97 Tacoma, 2wd 6 cyl with auto. I recently lowered it 2" with lowering springs and blocks in rear. When the truck goes through a car wash or rained on hard for a while it will make popping sounds upon take off and stop. Now...when it dries out no more popping sounds. Any suggestions?

Do you know what corner of the truck it is coming from? Or front or back?

Popping sound when? Going over bumps? Popping is synchronized with the RPMs? Need more detailed info.

Ok Sorry. The popping sounds are underneath the front of the truck. I think it's the driver side. I can usually hear it when I take off from a stop. Sometimes it happens when I brake. Although the popping or grinding sounds are loudest when it gets wet underneath, I can still hear and feel it even when try. Some suggested it might be ball joints. Sounds like the suspension is stressed from underneath.

I had a pop for awhile... turned out to be the sway bar end links

Like above, check your sway bar assembly. You might jack up one side at a time so the tire is off the ground and push or pull on you suspension joints. If the noise is coming from the front, then you should be able to feel some play.

Could be the aftermarket springs as well, though why it only happens when wet is something of a mystery

Check all your ball joints and tie rods ends
