After reading everything about por 15 and fluid film i want to por 15 a lot of the easier to reach frame areas and fluid film the inside of the frame and hard to reach/ bolts and stuff. Do i need to get the Metal Prep for use after wire wheeling/ grinding the rust off but before the POR 15 goes on? Its $18 for the metal prep.

Clean surface area really well. You can just brush it on.
I used it on bare metal(used paint prep solvent to clean), just coated thin at first and coats eventually got thick.
If you do use primer. Use a light coat etching primer. then coat.

on mine i did grinding and everything, wiped off dust, treated with the por15 metal prep, rinsed and dried off, applied por15

i haven't seen results compared with the metal prep chemical vs without but its recommended and for all the work involved already don't know if you'd want to attempt skipping it

primer should not be used underneath the por15, only on top of fully cured por15 if you are going to topcoat it

The metal prep really helps create a bonding surface for the por15, especially near edges or bolt holes. If you don't use the prep solution, make sure you do additional stripe coats at those locations to build up the coating thickness.

A dust coat of primer worked well for my wheel wells..I used etching primer,por15,bed liner for my wheel wells on my old civic build. Full coat definitely a no-no..
Por15 can also be applied on top of rust, but I wouldn't do that..

Should i use a rust converter on areas that still have a little rust that i cant fully get off before putting the metal prep and por 15 on?
