I have an 01 DC that the previous owner did not get the spare tire mount recall fixed. That mount is rusted pretty badly and has spread to the rear cross member. Should POR-15 do the trick on the cross member?

POR-15 can do wonders on stopping rusted metal from rusting further but some photos are needed to be able to assess whether something more structural is needed.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
    Pictures please!

It only took one time needing to lower the tire in wet muddy slop once .

To under stand that location is for people that call for road service to change a tire.

Extending a air line to check the spare air pressure is a given as well as lowering the tire often.
