Saw a portal axle on a Marlin RCLT.
    Look for crawlinyota on Facebook.

The brake caliper was too low imo.

The 74weld portals only multiplies your gear ratio by 1.22 (portal ratio). So if you have stock 3.73 gears, your actual total axle reduction is 4.55 so basically the same as re-gearing to 4.56 without portals. Seems like they'd be perfect for bolting onto stock height suspension and slapping 35s on but you have ground clearance of running 40s or 42s. Would be really cool to get the price on them down enough to make it easier to chew on. I know those Werewolf 4x4 portals are around 15k. 74weld are like 25k

Was that a confirmed price? I’ve seen people float that price around but I haven’t seen it in their website.

I am not even crazy enough to spend 20 grand on these. I was expecting they would be in the 15k range.

There is value in these given that with just the portals you can run 35's, but you still need better shocks, UCA's, and springs.

that could be said about anything you add to your vehicle. Given the price, it seems unwarranted, but if it were in the 5K price tag it seems that you could get a decent lift and avoid a regear it would be worth it. And being that it gears things down and eliminates drivetrain stress the only thing really that sees the most abuse is the hub gear so as long as you carry a spare you’re in the clear.
