They seem super cool, gives you the ultimate in ground clearance. But from what I've seen the ones for Jeeps are like $30k!!!!

I'm in for the info.

Ive seen them on atv's and some Russian vehicles. It sounds like a cool idea if they hold up to the abuse.

They should work fine depending on back spacing of rims.. not the absolute best cause I think your truck with ifs is a bit wider than the factory solid axle trucks. The price of those axles (used) vary based on location across the US.. I had a 84 4runner that I never should have sold. You can try other sites like marlin crawler forum for the best information on this, those guys will give you all the information you can soak up.

Any 4wd toyota truck 85 or older should have the axle that fits.

    Quoted from another site:

    Mog Axles/Toyotas

That's my next step for my Toyota based buggy. Actually our shop is just down the street from one of the biggest Unimog shops in the country, so fortunately all the parts I need are close by. You might do a search for them on Google (or similar), their name is "Linden Engineering", and they're in Golden, CO. They usually have four or five dozen Mogs and Pinz's sitting in their yard, and lots of chassis sitttin' around with good portals in 'em. I went over there yesterday, and they quoted me $3000 for two front axles, because I want to do rear steer on my buggy.

A fellow down in Texas had Volvos under a Disco 90. Broke a portal housing clean in half following the 1st sas Taco, the original Frankentaco.
Final gear ratio can be an issue when combined with any transmission intended for typical differential ratios and any kind of on road use.

Those are cool. Could they even be shipped to the US. Would this be considered a thread revival?

I dont think $14k is too outrageous but I'm not savvy in the prices of those kinds of upgrades such as lifts and what not. I just wonder how much the shipping would be and how long it would take. Shipping might not take too long because it could come through Russia then cross into Alaska then Canada the rest of the way.

YEAH I realized that halfway through starting my post when i looked at the 2017 OP dates... was trying to do a search on portal axle conversions, and most I found were for UTV's/atv's... I dont think this would be suitable for a DD.. but for a dedicated trail rig.. maybe... have my doubts on the torsional loads on the UCA's, and LCA's ball joints.. and steering...
