While it might be difficult to feel the gain, before and after dyno runs would be able to quantify the difference. Velocity stacks are based on a valid physical principle.

...even though I'll never feel the difference. When you do small things to improve flow, the effects don't just add up, they multiply. ;)

Hole centers are 67mm and 69mm. Mounting pattern is not square.

Which is why I offered the no-risk test option for local members. Some people (including at least 2 on TW) have done this and say that it helps. It obviously won't be a drastic increase in power. If it was, I'd be charging a lot more for it. In any case, there are differing opinions.

Porting and Polishing is a long proven method of increasing flow for all engines. Obviously, porting additional components such as the intake manifold and heads will net more gains. How much of an increase in flow you get from just the throttle body and whether its worth the price is up to the buyer.

I have a 70mm TB on my truck that I ported, polished and knife-edged. It noticeably improved throttle response and power throughout the rev range. If you are familiar with the 1GR-FE, you know that the stock throttle body is a bottleneck in the intake system. Which is precisely why URD made their adapter plate and the improvement from upgrading to the 70mm TB.

So to say that, "U wont see any gain from that port and polish.
There already plenty of people did that already on xru and nothing gained", is incorrect. You won't see gains like you would by going to 70mm, but there is an improvement nonetheless. It's the same principle, just not as drastic of a change.

You get it, but I already knew that from reading your posts in that silly manifold spacer thread.

The ported 65mm TB was sold yesterday and is shipping on Monday, so we should have firsthand feedback in about a week's time. Thanks

If you don't find anyone local who wants to give this a try, definitely let me know please. I'd be willing to pay shipping both ways (for yours and my core along with the money if the trial goes well). I keep track of my fuel economy every tank by hand calculating as well as with an ultragauge and my butt dyno is perfectly tuned :D

Hey guys. Im the guy who bought the pnp throttle body. Just installed it and went for a drive. Initially, i can feel better throttle response. I got this mainly to increase my MPG since i do alot a highway driving. i will give an update in a couple weeks.

Thanks Than! Glad you like it so far.

I just got back from Parker, AZ which was a 10 hr drive and I'm pretty happy with the results. Truck felt great passing, even through strong headwinds and with brand new 35" tires. Really surpassed all of my expectations. Can't wait to see what a dyno tune has in store.

You will not gain MPG from this, simply because max MPG isn't achieved during full-throttle. ;)

As with all the CAI kits out there, port and polish on the TB makes a measurable difference in our trucks only when you get a turbo or supercharger.

Have you had a ported and polished TB on your Tacoma? Just wondering if you are speaking from experience or not. I have one in my Tacoma and it made more of a difference than I imagined it would. Not to mention, there are a few others that have experienced noticeable gains from this.

I got into a debate on another thread about CAI. There were guys on there saying there is no improvement and it is a waist of $$$...yet they ran stock setups. Where is the experience? Because I and many others have noticed a difference with mods like CAI. PNP a TB isn't going to give huge gains like you mentioned and all it does is compliment the other mods...like mentioned lol My point is that guys have been PNP heads, manifolds, carbs, since the 50s and TBs since the early 90s. The smoother the air going in and leaving the engine, the more performance you get out of it. Would you rather run a 5k with a mask or without? All about flow and you don't need a SC/TC to notice gains.
Thanks for your post about the 70mm TB mod, I was looking at doing that in the near future.
    Nice work on your PNP.

65mm. If you bring me a 70mm TB, I can port/polish it for you.

Yes it does, I have tested on a flow bench stock, ported stock, stock 70, ported 70, stock 76 and ported 76.

Likewise on my truck and a test truck for other purposes. And to go further a matched and ported FULL intake tract makes a remarkable difference.

Be mindful of changes in noise being confused with actual power gain. Have you done back-to-back dyno runs with stock vs ported TB?

Chris4x4 reported dyno results of just +1hp from complete removal of all filters, restrictions, and piping upstream of the manifold. The stock naturally-aspirated 1GR-FE simply doesn't draw enough air for the stock intake to be a limiting factor, so improving airflow through the intake (and checking on flowbench, etc.) doesn't result in power gain.

If the engine has the TRD supercharger, CAI has been shown to produce quantifiable gains. It is likely a ported and polished TB will as well.
