Get the dog to a Good Vet instead of seeking answers on a Toyota Tacoma Forum.

my boxer used to do that all the time as a puppy. had to do the same with rationing and just making sure he slowed down drinking water. grew out of it eventually.

I had a German Shepherd that had these same symptoms. Excessive drinking and wouldn't eat a lot of food, after tons and tons of testing it turned out to be a EPI which is a deficiency of pancreatic enzymes. Might be something to look into

Already been done. The suspense of waiting for the tests to come back is what's killing me!

It may be possible that your Vet isn't trained it this field. You may need to go to a Specialist.

My last dog, a female Black Lab named Molly, lived to be 15 (the same vet who put Molly to sleep back in 2009 is the one who treats Mandy now). I'm worried that Mandy could die wayyy too young...

you're going to worry yourself to death. i know it's hard to be patient in these situations, but i'm sure the results will show it is not as bad as you think. :) good luck

I'm afraid the news isn't good...

The ultrasound shows that Mandy has Congenital Renal Displaysia, which basically means that her kidneys are operating at about 40% capacity. There is no cure for this, and she will most certainly have a reduced lifespan. There is a chance she will not even live to see a year old if she gets sick enough.

This happened before she was born, while she was still developing inside her mother's womb.

The biggest drawback of this kidney defect is that she needs to drink almost constantly, and even though she is responding to housebreaking, this constant water consumption has resulted in a reduced bladder control.
