I have neighbors that live above me (apartment complex) that have lead feet.

It starts at 7am when they wake up, and it picks back up when we get home at 6-7pm.

I have yet to go up there, as I'm afraid I will get mad and we'll start arguing which will just make them want to make even more noise.

I'm trying to decide on the best way to handle it. The apartment complex has already sent them a letter asking them to not wear hard-soled shoes, high heels, etc... It hasn't done shit.

Luckily, I may be moving into my brother's second house downtown which will alleviate this completely. We'll see.

    Oh...and...IBTL.

Well guys I hear ya some people seem to drive the wrong speed in the wrong conditions sometime.

I'm lucky I don't have people that live close to me (those on the road are great people though) and my drive is more than a quarter mile long so I can't see the road and those on the road can't see me.

That being said, I say think twice about your approach. Most people I know, including my own mother, would put a bullet in anyone stopping them on the road and attempting to pull them from their car or truck.

The mention of police responding has reminded me of an incident that happen to my parents neighbor.

The neighbor (father) had to discipline his youngest son for something he had done. The boy didn't like that he got a spanking and called the police and reported his father for abuse. The officers showed up and listened to the story of what happened from both the son and father. Needless to say the police left with nothing happening to the dad. After they left, the dad went into the house, got the cordless phone and handed it to the son. He told his son "you might want to go ahead and make another call to them"

Anybody else think 30 in a 25 is NBD?

Yeah, it's residential, but my speed in a neighborhood _greatly_ depends on circumstances. In my parents' neighborhood, everything is spread out, the road is 3 cars wide or more, and there is excellent visibility. I'll do 25 without thinking about it, scanning ahead for people (nobody is usually out and it's almost all older folks in the area who stay indoors.) I slow down before approaching any pedestrians, whom I can spot a good 200 yards away, (PLENTY of time to stop at 25mph, unless your reaction times are useless...)

My street is smaller and more overgrown with trees and has more kids, so I slow down.

    Like everything, it depends...

Sadly, the majority of drivers don't use this logic when driving.
My neighborhood is inundated with kids and the speed limit is 25. People tend to drive 35-40 in the neighborhood. Even the school buses speed to the point where a good number of neighbors are finally fed up and the city will be installing speed bumps soon which sucks that we had to go that route as I absolutely hate those neighborhood speed bumps and now because people can't use their due dillegence while driving like yourself we now have to have these stupid speed bumps on a daily basis.

Yes, people drive like jerks, no question! And 35-40mph in a neighborhood is certainly too fast.

I just think the OP could easily be going overboard. I said "could", because I don't know the area. But while 30 may make the OP uncomfortable, he's acting like the guy is driving like a lunatic and hitting 60mph... I suspect I'd disagree with his assessment if I saw what happened in person.

Oh, and while we're on the subject: We have great speed bumps in my neighborhood. I generally abhor speed bumps, but it's a fairly serious thoroughfare and we have these super wide but not too high bumps that get people down to about 20mph, which is about right for the area, yet don't damage vehicles.

Our biggest problem is the darn kids. In particular, a bunch of kids on the other end of the neighborhood shoot each other with BB guns all evening long after dark! Letting kids run around and shooting each other with a firearm, not a toy, is what is dangerous here, IMO.

I love guns, I own several, and when I have kids, I'm sure I'll teach them to safely use a BB gun, 22, shotgun, etc (assuming they're interested.) But I can't imagine letting a bunch of kids go out and shoot each other with BB guns!

I really irritates me when I'm biking with my dog (on a bike leash) and we pass through their little battles... Some hides will be tanned if they ever shoot in our direction.

100% guarantee if you put your hands on someone who's packing with a CC permit. Better think twice before detonating on anyone regardless what he is doing. It could very well be the last thing you do. Better to step back, take a deep breath and go talk to him with a neighbor as a witness AFTER you cool off.

around here its just natural. Kids will play street hockey, almost any Canadian has yelled "CAR!!" more than once in their childhood. Also setting up a basketball net on the side of the road is not uncommon.

My friends and I would do this. We would play catch, football, and baseball in the street and run from cars.

I have a neighbor who asked "if I could do something about the leaves falling off my tree into his yard" He said "I have nothing to do with that tree yet it causes me work".

I just nodded and walked away. Apparently he asked the guy on the other side the same thing.

I just nodded and walked away. I am thinking of taking a section of fence down so more leave and my big dog can wander over there!
