I'm installing a brake flasher into my truck soon and want to hook it so that the back two tails flash, rather than the high-mount brake light. Does anyone know which wire goes to those two? I want to put it inline there.

Here is how I'm going to have it set up to flash. Kind of like what you see on fire trucks.

In case you're wondering why. My truck has been rear ended twice. Still on the stock bumper. But I'd rather avoid dealing with that again.

If I tap into the one on the driver side, will it be inline with the tail light on the passenger side as well? I guess this is something I need to go look at before I ask anymore questions lol. I'm planning on doing it tomorrow.

Ok so according to the wiring diagram I should be able to tap into the wire goes into the driver side tail light since both rear tail lights are connected in sequence.

I think you have it figured out

I really hope it makes a difference but I am not holding my breathe.

Okay before I do something stupid. I see two green and white wires coming out of the tail light socket on the driver side. I also want to tap into the ground, which I am assuming is the white and black wire (there are two of these as well). So should I tap into one of each? Does it matter which one?

Just how do you plan to do this ??

Cut the wire bare butt splice for a mechanical connection then solder and heat shrink the connection.

Myself I would run my own ground but that is a personal thing.

theres two white and green wires going into the socket. And two black and whites going into another. The module isn't grounding. It's making a connection to give it power but it's not flashing like it's supposed to. I'm checking to make sure everything is right before I start soldering

It's really dumb that Toyota has the same color wire going into the same pin. One goes to the pass tail and other one is the power for both. Different color wire would have been nice.

You can guess which one I tried first. Module works fine now.

In case anyone cares to see the result.

    http://youtu.be/pe4-ZVxPPfg

It also flash rapidly if the module detects a custom threshold of g-force, aka "hard braking". But I can't really take video of that.

This little module has a ton of customization options but I hope these settings will work. It's not too obnoxious I think.

EDIT: for some reason the flash looks really slow on my laptop. But it looks fine on my phone. Just FYI

you should find the diagram for the pigtail. tap into the wires before they go to the sockets in case you ever need to change the housings. it looks like you did but a little hard to tell from the pic (at least for me)

I tapped into these wires for my third brake light on the cap.

Problem was there were two of the same color wires going into the same plug hole/pin/etc. That's because one was jumped over to the pass side light (see diagram above). Had a 50% chance of getting it right the first time. I lost.

    guess I got lucky :)

oops, edit: I actually tapped in after the pigtail. so I still got lucky, until I have to change the housings :(

I was afraid to even start there because I assumed the flasher would then only work for one lamp. Plus there is some kind of trailer harness there and I didn't want to F any of that up.
