I've noticed visible positive camber on my truck since day one. I recently had my truck in at an independent alignment shop and they didn't have to adjust anything. They said everything was perfectly within factory spec and showed me the alignment sheet. I forgot what my numbers were now but I do know everything was in the green. I don't notice any outside edge tire wear either on my BFG KO2s with about 20,000 miles.

Only 1 inch and only in the front. I have a little 1/2 inch toytec top plate spacer which comes out to a 1 inch lift once installed.

No I don't, sorry. But like I said all my geometry was in the green. That I know for sure.

I talked with a local off road shop and they say outer wear isn’t necessarily from too much camber. Said it could be driving style and other alignment things. I’m getting new wheels with more offset soon so gonna have to get a new alignment anyways. Then I’ll know then how out of alignment I am/was. I haven’t gotten aligned in 10 months. I really think lifting makes positive camber worse or at least maybe you need to get it aligned more frequently because the suspension makes it go more positive faster than if stock maybe?

I have duratracs, and the edges stick out more than KO2s I think, but either way I’m concerned about the wear.

Optical illusion. You cannot eyeball an alignment. You can't see 1 degree. Outside wear comes from toe, not camber. Tires wear from friction and heat not from lean.

Now you might see camber from parking lot binding. When you get and alignment your front tires sit on plates that allow the suspension to move freely as it is adjusted. This will also happen when you are driving.

So basically it can look out of alignment but it’s not?

Exactly. The idea is that when you are driving down the road the numbers go to zero. With toe, you want some positive toe static. Meaning that your wheels are pointed inward slightly. When being pushed, your wheels will open to zero. The opposite is true on front wheel drive. Because power is being delivered to them, they want to close up so you dial up a little negative toe to open them up.

Any idea then on why I’d be getting more outer wear in my duratracs?

Probably camber loss(added positive camber) and lateral load jacking due to change of steering geometry. It's wearing in turns...

Wouldn’t everyone with a lift get this though? Maybe every truck is different.

Or every one drives a little different.
Do you do a lot of city driving with a lot of slow turning?

Not really. Its possible my driving is the culprit though just on my normal routes. I'm getting new wheels/tires anyways so i'll keep a close eye once I get an alignment and ask the offroad shop to double check everything at the time.

Too much positive toe. That is what causes edgewear. Camber takes tens of thousands of miles to show up.

Here are a couple videos that explain some of what's happening when you change steering geometry.

More or less; there's a lot more to it.

Although the videos don't address lift directly, the concepts are valid.

Everyone is right. The human mind has the capability of processing data that can be difficult to physically measure. Some people are better at this than others. The human mind can also be easily tricked as well. It all depends on the individual and thier capabilities of perception, and conversely thier biases.

In my case both myself and my wife noticed positive camber on my 2018 at roughly 15k miles. Took it into the dealer and they verified that the camber was in spec, but the toe was out of spec. So go figure.
