I got to 280 on a tank this morning. 50% streets 50% highway. I also, start my truck like 15 times a day because I do small trips to Home Depot cause I do Maintenece. I have a 4 banger, 31” tires , tonneau cover, not re-geared (yet). Mods: remove secondary air filter, uni filter mod. To me that’s the best trip I’ve got from driving so much. Also, I tried to keep it under 2500rpm. I was mindful but still stepped on it a few times. The tank lasted me 7 days

I came from a Prius C, which regularly achieved 50+ mpg, I have a 6 mile commute to work (12 mi total) and only had to fill up once a month (7.5-8 gallons).

Now I have a 4.0L that gets approx 13 mpg, I fill up every two weeks or so (15.5-16.0 gal) and I'm happy to do it. I can drop off my kids to school, always fit in all their stuff, along with all my tools and I feel safer in a bigger truck. Loving it.

i get about 19-20 MPG in the winter and get 21-21.5 MPG in the summer. i driver 40 miles a day combo hwy and street. pretty good for a 4.0. It might help that i have a soft top tonneau cover on the bed. I'd say i would get about the same on 3rd gen.

I get 22mpg with a light foot, other than that I don’t worry about the fuel, I bought a truck not a Camry,

I’d rather complain about my suspension or my engine needing a supercharger :anonymous:

City driving, mine usually gets a little over 12 mpg

On the highway, if I keep it under 60 mph it can get little over 16 mpg.

I’m very happy with the MPG in my 1st gen 2.7L regular cab. 23 highway, 20 city or long stretches off road. That’s with armor, lift, camper shell, steel wheels and E-rated mud tires.

I hated the MPG in my former 2nd gen 4.0L bone-stock DCSB. It averaged 16-17 no matter how carefully I drove. Sometimes in winter the average MPG went as low as 12.

I’ve had 5.0L V8 and 3.5L ecoboost F150 company trucks that both averaged 18-19 without even trying to drive careful. The 5.0L F150 once briefly dipped to 17 when I did a long highway trip at 85+ mph with a 1700 lbs. in the bed.

I say go regular cab Tacoma or go full size. I don’t like the in between.

After almost a year I am now used to my I4 fuel economy. I'm enjoying the truck too much to complain!

The list is long, but distinguished.
I get to visit all sorts of different gas stations regularly, see the beautiful lights, meet new people, and most of all clean out any garbage... my truck stays clean!

Best tank was 29mpg (long road trip) and worst was 19 MPG. Average in my sig below. My truck is 99% stock and I drive it like a car most of the time. No towing and occasional hauling. Yes it is hard to complain about those numbers because we are talking about a utility vehicle and it does nearly everything I need in life, so there's a price to pay for the practicality. I can get way better MPG with a compact car but then it can't be used to haul firewood or deliver 30 cases of drinking water. There are pros/cons to everything.

Well I did the Math for the first time today and I am getting 14mpg on this hog.

I drive in town about 8 miles each way to work. Don't exceed 2500rpms much. I have been warming the truck up for about 10min in the morning too as it is below zero over night lately.

    I just did a 447km trip. Used 48.726 litres.
Basically 278 miles and used 12.89 gallons of gas. Average speed was about 50-55mph (small highways). No super highways like in North America. Highest speed limit here is 100KMH (63MPH). Over half of my trip was on steep and winding roads, and lots of strong cross winds. Plus having to hammer it to pass slow moving semi's. I worked out my mileage my hand as 21.55 U.S. MPG

I usually average around 16 - 17 mpg with driving around town.

    No complaints at all!

Crap on my roof and traffic are the two biggest drains on my mileage. I do better with a clean cap and fully loaded bed than with a ladder and empty bed. Idling going nowhere hurts my mileage but not as dramatically as roof drag. How much your warm up time is costing you depends a lot on the ratio of idling time to driving time but at idle it's certainly not 1/1. If you're curious you could use a different warm up time to see.
