Dealerships get a lot of well deserved hate in here, but I thought it would be cool to hear about good dealers and good experiences.
I've worked with Hoover Toyota and I appreciated the candor of my salesman. He never tried to upsale me, he even pointed out items I could remove to save money and he was quick to respond to my texts.
He really worked with me to find exactly what I wanted (which wasn't on the lot) and seemed to appreciate that I had done my research.
I'm actually here right now looking at trucks for my brother and I learned these salesmen get a flat fee per car they sale. Now it makes sense that he didn't try to upsale me when I bought my truck.
Also, they have a free car wash for their customers any time the service department is open, so that's pretty cool.
Anyone else have a good experience?

My 5K service was due last weekend and they had a service guy that lived near by that came by and picked my truck up and returned it at noon that day. On the weekend no less. Called a few days later to make sure all was good. Trotter Toyota in Pine Bluff Ar.
I would also like to say that at 5K I have had zero issues and no wet spots on the rear end. Shifts fine but still wish I could have found a stick with some options. My gen 1 is still more fun to drive which is why it took 5 months to get to 5K on the new one.IMG_1390.jpg

    Great idea for a thread.

Just bought mine at Servco Toyota in Honolulu and the whole experience was very smooth (about a 2 week process for me since they had to bring in my specific truck from their distribution point) and the whole team was very laid back which made it stress-free.

Since Servco owns all dealers on this island, they don't have to compete with other dealers so they don't add the "dealer markup FEE" that many of the other car brands do (a common thing here). On top of that, I never had to really negotiate below MSRP because they included a discount on the first price quote without me having to ask. And I'm not talking a measly few-hundred off, I'm talking close to 2k! I suppose it helped that 2017's should be clearing up soon...

Everyone was always very friendly at all levels.
They never pressured me at any levels (sales rep & manager, or the financial dept)...a first for me!! They may try to suggest something once, but they stop if you say no to it.
They were pretty knowledgeable about things I've read about on TW that the average person usually didn't know, so it was nice not having to explain things I was asking about.

My sales rep was Darron and I would highly recommend him.

There is one sales manger who posts on here and he builds some REALLY cool Tacomas. I don't remember his name, but maybe someone will.

My 4runner purchase was great. I traded the taco in to the same dealer, and in 30 minutes, we had trade in price and 4runner price nailed down, I left with confirmation of all numbers in print, in my hand, and waited two months for my rig to come in. When it arrived, I was driving home in it about 40 minutes later with a stupid grin on my face. Very good experience.

Had a great experience from talking on the phone to schedule an appointment, all the way to shaking hands getting handed the keys for my 16 Taco @ Longo Toyota in El Monte, CA. From what he told me, its the largest Toyota dealership in the United States, so you can imagine the amount of sales peeps they have and as well as inventory.

My purchase experience (Toyota of Santa Cruz) was fine. I'd buy another car from the same sales guy any time. Knowledgeable, professional, low pressure and OK pricing. It's the after-sale service that's annoying ... so far it hasn't been BAD, but they don't make it easy: make an appointment, then wait in line until you're met by a greeter, then wait some more for a service adviser (different one every time), then explain the problem or service needed (which you already provided when you made the appointment), then if it's a problem, you'll hear "I never heard of that before" and "We'll have a tech look at it, but that will take half a day", etc etc.

My buddy had the dealership people try to deliver his car to him (this was not pre-arranged).. He was on the golf course with me and they arrived at his house..... called him, as he was NOT at home... He said "I'm at the golf course".... they delivered the keys to him on the 15th hole... Damn good..! He liked the service..!

They even came out in a golf cart to deliver the keys...!!

I worked with Delmar at Groove Toyota in Denver. While I know him from other avenues in life, I couldn't imagine a better purchasing experience.

I told the salesman what I wanted, and what I was going to pay. He said yes.

Turns out it was $1000 under invoice. :D

Don’t even get me started on service. Never had an issue with warranty repairs, and always got great prices.

Turns out I know everyone at the dealership.

Good idea OP! I've bought over a dozen vehicles from my local Toyota dealer. Do I always get the best bottom dollar price? Probably not. I could save a few hundred dollars if I shopped several dealers. That's ok. My sales guy is super nice, service dept treats me right, parts guys give me a good discount and the dealer owner donates a crapload of money locally into such things from college scholarships to homeless shelters to local athletic teams. Good people.
