Hi new to tacoma, I am in the process of purchasing an 09 Tacoma Regular Cab 4cyl 5spd manual transmission. I am a little concern about getting the 5spd manual tranmission because I just read this other thread about a throwout bearing crack on a 6spd manual tranmission (found here---http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/17819-throwout-bearing-again.html).

Does anyone have any experience with the tacoma 5spd manual transmission and how reliable is it. TIA for any input.

I cant speak about the new tacos but I have a 1996 4x2 that is a 5 speed manual 4 cyl and it has over 400k miles on it and I have had zero issues. Changed the fluids regularly during service intervals and so far it hasnt fell out. Sure it clinks and clangs and is noisy but she shifts like a racecar. I am am not the easist on my vehicles either.

Thanks, makes me feel good knowing you got 400K + miles out of your 1996 truck.
