Hey everyone I have my 2009 Tacoma that's a 2 wheel drive, 4 cylinder with the 5x4.5 lug pattern on it, I have a set of tundra 5 lug wheels that are 5x5.5 and are 18" that I was wanting to put on to truck to do a updated look of sorts. I know they make adapters to convert the lug pattern but was wondering if anyone has done anything different to convert to the lug size or if the adapter will be the only way to do it.

In Cuba they customize Lada cream puffs all the time. Yes, I've ridden in this one (a friends). No, it didn't ride bad and hasn't fallen apart.

But it is kinda homely isn't it?

PS, if you think your 2.7 is anemic now, wait till you experience the slowdown that will come with the additional weight of the wheel/tire/adapter package. Not to mention the effective final gear ratio change.

That may take you the other way. You have to be pretty careful. The tire calculator might help your analysis.

I collected a set of wheels made for spares, painted and added SS trim rings for a bit of retro looking bling. Cheap, but better to me.

The largest you can run with no rubbing or modifications is 235 75 15, or some equivalent diameter that the tire calculator will help you figure out.

Just buy the adapters/spacers, make sure they’re hub centric.

No opinion on adapters. I found it easier to use wheels with a matching pattern.
There are plenty of better looking wheels with the proper lug pattern. Wheels from Highlanders, RAV4s, Siennas, earlier Camrys, some Jeeps and Mustangs will fit.
Search the 5 lug part of this forum for wheel swaps others have done.
    I've got 16" Highlander wheels on my 2013 AC.IMG_2169.jpg

Doing a hob conversion is going to expensive and way more money than the Tundra wheels are worth. Spacers will work if they don't push the wheel too far out, expect them to add 1" or so to the offset. As already mentioned the 5x114.3 bolt pattern we have on the 5-luggers is the most common wheel bolt pattern is existence. you can get wheel from a multitude of other vehicles to fit or go aftermarket and find an even larger collection of wheel to choose from.
