Just recently started noticing grumbling noise on front end when I get up to 40 or 50 mph. Does this for sure sound like a bad bearing, and if so how do I know what side? I jacked up and spun wheels but I don't hear anything significant.

Also just noticed I have a torn boot, CV I assume. How hard is this to change and does anything need disassembled. See picture.

    Thanks!

I got bearing from one of the guys on TW and put it in in 2 HRs - the second one in 1:20 so if you have tools and know how to use them it's easy - don't have a split boot so don't know about that. I had a split boot on something else and got a kit with a boot that was in 2 parts - you put on with hose clamps and glue - worked fine - didn't have to remove anything.

Thanks for the tips! How did you know your bearing was bad? Good to know on boot cover. Trying to figure out if the slip over/glue together will hold up like a complete boot.
