I was just outside washing my baby. I wound up making the wife park on the street. Long story short when I got finished the wife told me to move my shit so she could park her car in the garage. I got in my truck and went down the street and flipped a U'ey. I decided to flip the 4WD swtich and play for just a sec. Stoped, hit Neutral, went 4L. It locks in fine. Then I hit the RR Dif lock, it took a couple rotaions of the wheels to lock in but it did. Here is where it gets funny.

After seeing yeah its in 4L and the rear diff is locked big deal. I stoped, neutral, 4H. After re-entering 4H the RR Diff light stayed on. I touched the gas to see if there was still the 4L torque and it was not there. I tried to turn figuring that would be a tell tell sign, and sure enough it didnt want to turn. Kinda acted like it was pushing the front wheels. After that I just unlocked everything and thought COOL! I parked my truck and here I am.

Think one of you guys might be able to follow my steps and see if Im right? I have been reluctant to do the GRAY WIRE MOD but if Im able to do this regularly I will say to hell with it. LOL

Well I dont really think its like the gray wire mod where you can have the rear locked anytime. I know mine wont lock before I get into 4L cause I have tried it. But it appears it did not disengage when I turned the dial back to 4H. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if I was looing at it wrong.

It sounds like the locker collar hung in due to torque on it. If it happens again, try steering left and right while driving slowly to releive the tension.

I think his idea is that we could do this on purpose. If I am reading his post correctly he is saying you can put it in 4 low and lock the rear diff, then leave it locked and go to 4 hi and it will stay locked. Normally the diff won't lock in 4 hi.
