So here's the situation. I have a 17 with the premium JBL HU and I've had zero issues until like 5 days ago. I have a JL fix86 hooked up after the factory amp but it's reporting no signal which means nothing is coming from the factory speaker wires out of the JBL amp. At first I thought it was a loose connection bc all audio would cut out but it came back for like 5 min then cut back out. Jiggled some wires around/checked connections and got nothing. So then I read it could be a software issue so I did the update I found on here and got nothing. And today I was messing with the JBL amp and noticed there's zero power coming from it to power the speakers but if I unplugged the super little wire connector and plugged it back it I would get audio for like a few min then it would cut back out. I was able to do that like 3 times but after that, no more. It's almost like the amp is going into protection mode but I doubt it has that. I know how to do a lot but actually testing the resistors and shit inside the amp would be some new territory for me. Plus that amp isn't just your normal amp so I doubt I could find much on how to test it especially if I took it out to do inside.
I'm assuming the amp has shit out on me but open to some suggestion!

Could I purchase a similar amp like out of a Camry with the JBL(connections looked almost the same and a lot cheaper). I only need the amp to send the JL Fix86 some signal.

Would I be able to purchase a non JBL HU since I already have my own amp and speaker wires ran?

    You could
-purchase 3rd gen Tacoma JBL amp. Find one in a junkyard, or maybe post a WTB thread here in the marketplace.
-do a full aftermarket radio replacement and run RCA cables to your amp. You won’t be able to put a OEM non-JBL unit in because the connectors are all different, but an aftermarket one would work with the correct harnesses and all that

Thanks for the info. I actually have a amp coming from someone on here so hopefully that does the trick

Had a quick question. I have a stock 2015 with NON JBL entune technology. Yet I am having the same problem where my audio cuts in and out. Sometimes works perfect, sometimes not at all. Also the interaction beep on the head unit when u press a button either sounds muffled, static, or not a peep at all sometimes. Almost positive I have a wiring short but don't know where to look
