howzit everybody! well, I have to be honest, I've been talking to a few different people about suspension questions after searching this forum for hours and hours. I ended up ordering up this suspension setup for my '14 DCSB 4x4:
    front - Bilstein 5100/OME 885x (with driver's side 1/4" spacer), all pre-assembled
    rear - Bilstein 5100/Icon AAL

I'm keeping my stock UCA's for now, with the hopes that I can get away with it long enough to save up for some better UCA's.

Soooo, I am an absolute dummy when it comes down to anything mechanical, but I've never really had the chance to learn either. A few people have been awesome enough to offer to help with the install, even after my confessions of possibly not being able to contribute all that much.

Bottom line, Iven has offered his place up for a mod day to install my suspension. I'm still coordinating the date to get it done, and honestly, I have no idea how long this is gonna take, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up in case you're interested in helping out, or learning like I'll be doing.

Mahalos Iven for opening up your garage! I'll update this post with the date/time when we figure it out.

    --- UPDATE ---
so here's the day/time for all this to go down at Iven's house:
    9/14 (Sunday) at 8am

    thanks again, everyone

Pretty easy stuff right there.. Find a place and get the food...

If the 5100s in the front will come fully assembled then that is almost as fast as changing out your rear shocks..

Throw the whole truck on stands, some attack the rear with the AAL and others take care of the front... No work needed after lunch and some beers..

Yep. I have enough tools and jack stands, we can do the front and rear at same time. Especially if Mike comes down. Even more tools. And don't let Leo wrench on it if the whole truck is on jack stands... Might fall off :p

If you can get it, I would probably get some UCAs now.. We do have a GB going here with Marie at Boss4x4 till the end of Sept. Chime in on that thread or PM her to get some pricing.. If the guys are gonna be over and there are gonna be some extra hands, may as well get that done at the same time.

I think I've got swapping out the front assembly down to 20min per side on a 2wd. 4wd's take a little more time an finesse

No need to do it the LCA method (especially if it is fully assembled), but could it also be done that way so the UCA would hold up the knuckle/spindle?

But if the OP does pull a set of UCAs out of the bag, then never mind... just curious..

thanks for the input everyone. I won't be able to pull it together for UCA's right now, so the stock UCA's are gonna stay put. front's are fully assembled, so it looks like it should be a straight swap? I'll keep everyone posted on the day/time. shoots!

Sounds good. Bring breakfast and beer :D
Do you have new U bolts? Thankfully your truck is still new so no need to deal with rusty frozen bolts.

hmm, does the Icon AAL kit come with new U bolts? I'll open up the box and double check, if no more, I'll try get some new hardware this weekend. I think I've read that you shouldn't reuse U bolts... is that true for my case? truck is only 2 months old, with 1,500 miles :D

    If you need some.. I got a set of OME u-bolts that I didn't use cause I did a flip-kit.. $20...

And as for a 8:00 start on a Sunday... That means leaving Kapolei about 7.. I'll probably get down there about 9:00.. At least the truck should be on stands and all tires off at that point.. lol..

You can reuse the stockers. They are still new and weren't properly torqued anyway.

I think Iven is in Hawaii Kai, right? that's pretty much the other side of the world from us. I might have to pack a cooler and snacks for my drive there. haha

    sounds good!

I don't know if it matters, but the Icon AAL's did come with a set of new U bolts and hardware. I'll bring them just in case.

thanks to Iven and Mike for installing the suspension this morning. the whole process probably took about 3 hours, and everything came out cherry.

learned a lot and got to watch Iven and Nate's RC races. never knew an RC could go 43 mph  good meeting everyone today and I hope to make it to a meet soon. I'll try getting a picture up in the next couple days.
