the "fast lane truck" guys just reviewed the 2018 tundra trd sport, and its coming with Toyota's safety sense package (lane change monitoring, adaptive cruise control, blind spot). So I'm guessing the 2018 Tacoma may adopt this package also.

Toyota is resistant to install the safety sense to the trucks, thankfully the 7pin will tell the truck to turn some of the features off when towing.

The precrash and lane departure correction/warnings actually work pretty well. It will help reduce fatalities with medical driving failures, fatigue and even drunk driving accidents.

I just don't want them engaging these features when I'm towing.

You currently can disable all the features on the Toyota cars, so theirs no worry about being forced to leave any on.

Someone rumored it would be here for the 2018 or 19 as an update. Expect another price increase to reflect.

I'd prefer they spend their time fixing the howl and the drivetrain.

Toyota, if you are reading this, I don't give a shit about lane departure. I could probably use some form of echo location with the noise coming out of the rear end.

Fixing a problem doesn't have the same "bling" as adding gadgets.

If Nissan releases the diesel Frontier and Ford releases an Ecoboost Ranger, I'll bet you'll see a lot of changes for MY 2019.

I hope both of those things happen, because I'll bet you'll see a lot of tacoflavoredkisses1 buying one of those trucks. Here's to hoping Toyota fanboys continue to delude themselves into thinking 3rd gens warrant high resale value. I'm gonna use that during my negotiations for one of those bad boys.

I like my drivetrain, and would like those features before a drive line change.

That is my guess too, they are not gonna shoot their load until they see what comes on the new Ranger first.

Some of you forget toyota is SLOW to change, this isn't GM, they don't do any significant major changes outside minor facelifts and additional content for 5-6 years on their vehicles, that's how they keep high resale. You're not gonna see a powertrain change or major reskin till at least 2022. But keep dreaming.

They just need to make the MT available in any trim.

Because they want to spend money on the 5% that buy manuals and complicate the manufacturing process?

They already make them so all the money in the engineering is already spent for it, so why not make it more available across trim levels? Every MT produced is snatched up quickly, and guys wait months to get their chosen tranny choice. Different trim levels are offered with a MT in certain configurations, in certain areas (USA vs Canada). They roll off the same assembly lines, why not make them available everywhere equally? Just my .02. I would trade mine in if I could get the exact same configuration with a MT.

Exactly, they already produce them with Manuals so its not difficult to have them across the board. I read something recently about Ford originally not offering manuals in a higher trim level of the Focus and enough people were asking for them so they started adding them.

    Agreed.
However I'd love to see some higher mpgs out of the Tundra. That was the main reason I didn't get one.
