I would talk them down for sure. I was quoted 26,700 for a new 08 4x4 with SR5 #2, tow package, and a few other options as well

is trd sport better in a lot of ways than the trd offroad? don't mean to thread jack. Im in the same boat as the OP. In fact I just test drove a tacoma today. Test drove a 5speed mannual 4cyl 4x4 access cab. It was ok. still looking for a v6 manual to test drive.

Terrible deal. I got my '05 TRD Off Road with 28K miles for $17,200. For a truck with 80K on it they should be asking no more than $17,500.

Not really. The only difference really is who its for. The TRD Sport is better for somebody who is more into looks and pavement. The Off Road is for those of us who like to Wheel. Depends on what suits your needs.

I just test drove and signed the papers for a new 2008 Tacoma Crew Cab TRD Sport and should pick it up this weekend.

Are double cabs that much for expensive than access cabs? Excellent condition trade in is under $15000, so I am going to try and call them and offer $15500 cash and see if they will take it.

Brand new there is only $1,218 in difference invoice pricing between Access Cab and Double Cab.

Keep in mind they probably gave the guy who traded that truck in around $14K for it.

Well I am asking about getting a loan with my buddy at his bank. So once he tells me what the payment will be I will know a little bit more about my situation. Hopefully come this weekend I will be on the phone with the dealer and driving my trade in the 4 hours to get the tacoma...HOPEFULLY :)

You can do better than that. I was looking at spending under 20K for a used double cab Tacoma, but I've been getting much better financing for new vehicles. After getting about 3 dealerships competing for the sale I got the base price down and with the lower APR my payments are only slightly more than the used vehicles I was previously eyeing.

Anyway, some new vehicles have better deals (financing, warranty, etc) than old vehicles. Especially with Memorial Day weekend coming up you might find something special. Good luck!
