That's a good idea about the sun shade. A little big for my tastes, I've noticed that if I am running the headlights during the day the screen gets really dim.

In other news, I lucked out and found a guy that just bought a white 2015 TRD sport and he wants all the chrome stuff off mine. It looks like we are going to swap the rear bumper and the hood. Probably going to do the mirror caps, if it isn't too much of a pain. I'd like to do the door handles, but he said that will be too much tearing into a new truck.

I did a quick search and found a couple walkthroughs for removing the entire mirror for painting, but that was the mirror without the signal.

Anyone know if you can pull the caps off without pulling the door panel? It looks like I can take the little cover off the bottom and get to the screws that allow the mirror to come off the stalk. Not sure if that is necessary or if I can just pull the glass and get to any screws on the back of the mirror cap.

Forgot that I broke the cardinal rule of the internet and didn't post a picture of the truck.

Congrats on the new truck and lucky find having someone who wants all of your chrome! I believe the mirror caps (outer skin) are held in place with plastic tabs. Unfortunately I think you may need to move the glass adjustment mechanism out of the way to get access to all of the tabs though. To do that you would need to remove the mirror because the wiring going into it doesn't have enough slack to pull it apart without unclipping the mirror wire harness.

All that said it's not a very tough or even time consuming task. I think it would be worth it to get the colour matched mirror skins. If you want some instructions on how to do that let me know.
