Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
I'd rather have done the damage myself so I get the idea of being a bit pissed. Chat them up, make them feel bad, get them to polish your bishop....or something. Maybe a few free details on everything but the shocks. Then do nothing but run the shocks as they are.

Think I'm gonna order a paint touch up kit for my OEM Bilsteins, now.

That looks like the results of purple stuff or another high alkaline cleaner. Aluminum does not react well to it.

Polishing compound like Mothers, for instance, will pull the anodizing out of the aluminum.

You buy off road type shocks, and worry about the paint on them not being perfect.

Typical mall crawling at it's best. This would have been a good Friday thread.

There’s nothing better to smooth out some aluminum etching than a hand job from the detail shop, as I always say…

    That's diluted stain

Its the chemical. They mixed in higher concentration of degreaser that day.

Sure but the difference is your truck with some amount of effort you could keep shiny even if you off road mildly. But the shocks will never stay shiny and you can’t hardly see them under the truck.

It’s like complaining your leafs got scratched in shipping or in the install, which I’m sure they did.

    pinstripes. lots of pinstripes.
Absolutely possible to do it correctly, but IMO it would involve taking the shocks off and working on the bench with some good attention to detail.

Does your work polishing include anodized surfaces? How does the oxide layer react? I'm not sure how thick the King anodizing is but due to the color, doesn't look like a Type III hardcoat.

Simple Green? If there are any aluminum parts regular simple green will make things worse. Use Simple Green for aluminum and stainless steel

You took it into a professional detail shop... their chemicals were too strong and damaged your truck. I'd say they need to make it right one way or another. Really though, with the amount of money these types of suspension kits cost you'd think they'd have a protective coating on them. I wonder what they'll look like after the winter road chemicals get ahold of them?

But seriously, if you’re worried about protecting the finish of ur shocks the next time you get them rebuilt you can have them nickel plated , or black oxide coated , bronze coated or a few other techniques (don’t know if they are aluminum or mild steel bodies)

I wouldn’t try it on anodized surfaces. When I posted and said to try on aluminum surfaces only, I meant not on the blue parts. I should’ve been more clear.

If anyone wanted a mirror chrome reflection you could use Mother's mag and aluminum polish as shown here, but not on the blue anodizing as it will remove the blue. Personally, I wouldn't.

Does OP not offroad at all? Dude would probably neuter himself fretting over pinstriped paint from bushwacking in the boonies.
