FWIW, I've never been terribly impressed with King's various protective treatments. They are fine enough for race shocks, but have proven woefully inadequate for the real world of mud, water, and salt. Who want's to rebuild a rusted stuck together damper... not I.

??? It’s anodized aluminum so corrosion is minimal to none

Anodized aluminum does corrode, particularly when in contact with salts.

What you're thinking is anodized aluminum doesn't oxidize (rust).

Thanks homie. That’s Exactly what I was trying to say. I paid for a detail service, it came back worse and I was fucking pissed. Obviously I wasn’t going to let it go.

Yes, but go back to when your wheels were brand new and you just shelled out 2000 for em, installer f's them up, you would've been at least a lil disappointed back then I would imagine:notsure: More of the principal than anything is the point trying to be made I think. I don't tend to sweat the petty either but given the circumstances, a WTF is well deserved to the detailer

Then go tell the detail shop that you're pissed. Starting a thread here to cry about it won't help a fucking thing. You shouldn't need anyone to hold your damn hand.

It certainly shouldn't look worse. I had a place install a dash cam and they gouged my dashboard taking out the blank for the switch. Used a screwdriver instead of the proper tool, left a real nice scratch. I brought it up in a non-asshole way (maybe 5% asshole) and they took the labor off the bill. Your shit should look at least the same when you get it back.

bubbles in tint do affect vision and also longevity of the product so i would be upset. chalk on new tires, I wouldn't care since it's just aesthetic. paint peeled off via detail, leads to rust so yes i'd be pissed.

Some of your comparisons are really poor. OP is in his right to be upset, no one can tell him what to feel. I just think it's not worth crying over (not saying that's what OP is doing) since it'll get much worse done to it if you use them for their purpose.

He can seek compensation in some form or other, he'd deserve it. But I also don't think it's worth dragging out for such a inconsequential issue. but that's like, my opinion, man.

Honestly no, I bought them with the specific intention of off-roading. I agree though with the principal of the matter and a slight WTF, I honestly would never have noticed what the OP pointed out.

When I first looked at the pics I was like, what is he talking about? They look better than my shocks lol.

My wife was just diagnosed with Stage 4 inoperable cancer. I hope you never have to develop my perspective on life to understand the perspective you need regarding your Kings. Don't make life bitch slap you like it did me to drive home what is really important. Because it will. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Sometimes it boils down to principle. I can't stand it when damage is done by others to my truck. However, I shrug things off when the damage is done by me. Heck, sometimes I'm hard on myself when I did something so dumb. So I can understand how the OP views and can see his point of view.

Regardless on why he bought these beautiful shocks, the last thing he wanted, is a professional to damage his truck. Especially a paid professional who is detailing your truck. He paid for a service to put a smile on his face, not a frown. I'm very OCD and certain things will bother me, that others will look past.

I had the driver side of my truck repainted due to an accident. The professional body shop did a fantastic job, however they scratched the interior plastic when reattaching my front door back on. They also scratched right right side of my truck while it was being prepped. Does that make things okay? No and I was very professional about the mishap and we came to a agreeable resolution for the issues.

I would recommend just coming up with a solution that both parties can live with.

The steel body coating was etched by the chemicals, it will rust very quickly there.

I'm deeply sorry to hear what your family is going through. My prayers are with you and I've gone through similar situation three times this year. So I can slightly understand your situation as all three people weren't my significant other. That, I can't fathom as I've thought countless times what I'd do if it was my wife. It has taught me to let things go and not hold grudges during a fight.

    I wish you well.

    OP.....I understand you are upset.

Something to consider. The "damage" is really very very minor on a part that will sustain dirt, road film from rain, all sorts of surface marring events from the tires flinging crap. Also, the part is really not a highly visible part.

    I'll offer a couple suggestions.
    1. Choose your battles over something more critical to life
    2. Relax. Your heart and blood pressure will be in better condition.
    3. Spray some bedliner on those "blemished" shocks. Don't forget to mask the rods.
    4. Find another detail shop or learn to do the detail work to your standards.

Frankly, I think you will have a difficult time getting any compensation from the detail shop. YOU left the shop before inspection. How will you prove the damage was not caused after leaving?

    Good Luck with your quest.
