I appreciate every ones patients, I am still dealing with the forwarding company, and they are slow to respond. Basically I have 3 people who want to buy in the San Fran/Oakland/San Jose area so I am hoping they can all pick up from the port, I have 3 interested including myself in Colorado, and then 3 others in various locations. Still room for one more right now, if you are interested PM a name and zip code.

    Thanks for the bumps :)

Again thanks for the patients, if any one is in a huge rush, this probably isn't for you. It will take some time for the tents to be made, and then shipped over sea's, on a boat, and then of course a short time to be shipped here in the US.

I am still dealing with the freight forwarding company, they are being difficult with giving me a price. I have contacted a different company and hopefully they will be more helpful.

Basically unless you are a company that can come into the port with a semi to pick up a shipping container/and have a full container of merchandise (we won't) you have to hire a company that picks up your goods from the port and then brings them to their warehouse where you pick up your stuff, they also can arrange door to door shipping for you as well. The forwarding company will also handle getting the tents through customs and importing process.

The company I was put in contact with is basically telling me to call them when I have a bill of lading number and the tents have shipped from China. Obviously I don't want to have my/our hands tied with whatever they decide to charge us. I would like some what of a price up front, so we all know the cost and there are no surprises.

So hopefully this other company will be more up front with me. And we can start moving forward.

Again if you are seriously interested, just PM me a name/zipcode. I have almost the ten we need, but nothing is set in stone, people obviously may back out, and we may do more than ten.

Once this is figured out I will then PM a final price to get you the tent to where you live. And we can come up with a way for payments.

    Update (Sort of)

Again still slow going, the freight forwarding company is still being difficult, the company that makes the tents is now trying to deal with them direct for me to get the price it will cost for their services. I have narrowed shipping the tents through either fastenal or Saia freight. My goal is for the shipping to cost no more than 175 per tent, hoping to get it down to 150.00.

Also I have two volunteers in the Oakland area that will hopefully be able to pick up the tents and get them to the shipper, this is huge and will save every one money, big thanks to thebaker and fishtacoz88.

Again please be patient, once I get the price on the freight forwarding from the port we can get this going officially.

Sounds like we (me and the tent maker) are finally getting some where with the freight forwarding company. Hoping to have some solid answers either Friday or Monday. They finally gave me a quote, but it was to send them all to myself in Colorado, which I did not exactly want $$$$$, waiting on the price for them to just get the tents from the port to their warehouse for pick up.

A little more progress today, The tent maker finally contacted the freight company that can pick up from the port here in the states that they work with. Now that the manufacture has contacted them they are now taking me seriously I guess, just had a long talk about our shipping/handling needs and what we are trying to get done, should have some solid numbers by Monday. Hopefully they are good numbers, if not I am going to have to contact another company or two to try and get a better rate. Unfortunately the average person cannot just drive into a port to get their shipment, so we have to use a freight forwarding company.

I am interested. Been looking at getting the Tepui Kukenam, this appears to be it's equivalent, am I correct?

I would need it shipped to 58271 however.

Any idea how well these will be packed for shipping? I am somewhat concerned about quality control

There is a picture on one of the pages I believe of them packaged up

They each come in a custom fit box.

Ok I received a final price from the freight forwarding company.

The total cost per person is 675.00 plus shipping to your door.

This includes the tent with annex, shipping on the boat from China to the US, Customs fees/duties, and the cost for the forwarding company to pick up the tents from the port, take care of customs, and then they will label them and ship them out to us.

I am going to give them zip codes of the first 9 people that contacted me that are interested and I will send out the shipping quote to your residence. Those in California that want to pick up will have to pick up from City of Industry, unfortunately Oakland will not work. Since there are three of you up there I am hope full one of you may volunteer to pick them up down south, or I can have them shipped to you in Oakland, either individually, or all three together, to one location.

I am going to be on vacation for the next few days, I HOPE to place the order by the end of next week.

    FWD from the forwarding company:

    Duty: as actual
Customs single entry bond fee: 0.60% of invoice value (min. $60)
Customs bonded warehouse charge: $140 (estimated, to be confirmed when final weight & volume arrived bonded warehouse)
Pickup from bonded warehouse to our facility: $180
    Warehouse in/out fee: $0.20/Carton (min. $35)

To those guys up in Bay area. I'm down in San Diego and I'm planning to pick my tent up from the freight company in the City of Industry (its a 2 hour drive for me). I told Lucas I'd be willing to, but if you want, I can pick up your tents as well and store them for a little while until one of you can come down and get them. Otherwise, I would just have the freight co. ship them to you.

How long would it take for the tent to be made and shop over? Since it's boat, I'm sure it's a couple weeks.

I plan on the whole process to take 1-2 months just to be safe.

Also, I sent out a few PMs today, I just got back from a family vacation. I was expecting to come home to shipping quotes for every one (From the port to your local city) but didn't have it yet, I am calling them first thing in the morning.

I have had a few people back out, and a couple others that want in. I still probably need 2 or 3 more buyers. So if you are serious about this and want a RTT at a great price shoot me a message with your name/zipcode. If you are in CA let me know if you can do local pick up. If I don't have a 10 solid buyers in the next few days I will go over to expedition portal or ih8mudd to round up a few more.
